SSBB IRC Channel?

I was just wondering... I searched around a little and couldn't find the information I was looking for so I'll go ahead and ask. Is there an IRC channel for SSBB at the moment? Is there a place people can instantaneously contact each other for an online battle? I know the forums are nice but an active chat would be even better, especially when the game comes out and online gets rollin'. Does anyone know if there is anything like this that I might could browse around or pop into a few times before Brawl actually does come out?

I'd be totally down for a SSBB IRC channel. That'd be some good times, right there.

Anyway possible way to get the powers that be on this? I don't know if this small little thread is going to get enough attention. We need a nice IRC channel that isn't just a bunch of people idling in the room. In order to be official/big it would probably have to be in collaberation with the Smash Boards or another huge Smash community. The only one I can think of is the Smash Boards. Any IRC channel won't cut it and if it isn't really pushed, it will just die out and people will have to resort to PMs or other methods of communication. I just think it would be a great idea and what better time to kick it off and really get the ball rolling then during the anticipation and speculation of the wait.

Note: Some sort of Java chat would probably have to be linkable through the site for the channel to really become official/a real community. I don't think it would survive on people who use only an IRC client.

Parafish, I have wanted an IRC channel for some time as well. I have taken it upon myself to create one, as they all have to start from somewhere. Check in my profile for the link to the website I made which will host the IRC channel. I guess you can help me try to spread the IRC channel info somehow, it just needs to catch on is all. The site is my SSB team (clan), Root, and hopefully this thing will take off. I will begin working on the site as well.

Ah.. okay I'm checking it out now. I'll do what I can. If Smash is played with Friend Codes I'de rather not scour all over the web to find people to play. I think an organized chat would really build a community sort of like the boards but on a more interactive basis. I dunno.. typing in a real time chat during a match seems a lot more appealing than PMing someone. I definately check it out though. Hopefully a few more higher ups will visit this thread and see the need for an IRC Smash Community.
