Welcome to the Corrin matchup discussion.

Here's a link to the main post: SSB4 Falco Matchup Discussion - Main Post. This will be more for general matchup discussions like making a suggestion and such. Or, you could head over to the social thread and ask there: Where We Prefer The Air And The Points Don't Matter!. Or PM me if you really have to, but don't make a habit out of it.

Oh, and if you guys and girls want to play each other to have fun or learn about the MU, check out the NNID and FC sharing thread on the Falco boards: http://smashboards.com/threads/anyone-want-to-exchange-nnids-or-friend-codes.386513/.

There's also the regular NNID and FC sharing threads in the Online discussion if you just want to ask anyone to play.

Notice: Some rules, guidelines, and tips. Some of these are a given since you joined any forum.

1. Be respectful of each other. No insults, no trolling, no flaming, or any of that nonsense.
2. Be aware that some of the discussions can and will be old, so don't call out someone for "wrong" data if that post was referring to say, patch 1.0.3 stuff.
3. Be impartial; learn to see things from other sides. So, don't boast about all the advantages. Notice weaknesses and strengths from both parties.
4. Stay on topic.
5. Have fun.

And here is a frame speed ranking of their regular attacks and grabs - no Specials yet, sorry - to clear up on things since sometimes a move may feel slow, but it's actually fast and vice versa. Plus more information doesn't always hurt. Data from http://sixriver.web.fc2.com/ssb4/Character_data.htm - search for カムイ.

As of patch 1.1.4.

My brother actually mains Falco so I have decent experience in this matchup.

It's very... footsies oriented. A lot of feeling each other out on both sides, hoping to catch the other player for messing up. Both characters have difficulty opening each other up, though Falco has his throw combos at lower %, and Corrin can deal a ton of damage if she gets a clean hit on Fair/Nair since they link together. Dragon Lunge is a pretty ridiculous spacing/offensive pressure tool, and basically unpunishable (you can hurt her with a laser at least). Don't think it's overwhelming on either side, but Corrin has an easier time killing Falco due to her kill throw.

Watch out for the Counter.

Matchups against any character with a projectile reflector or absorber force Corrin to play a rush-down style without the use of dragon fang shot. It's difficult, but not impossible to still utilize Corrin's moveset to space and punish. Coupled with the fact that Fox and Falco's blasters can tack on damage in tight windows and are harder to avoid, this match-up is much more close up and personal than Corrin players would prefer.

When matched up vs Fox or Falco I find the easiest openings to exploit are in response to illusion/phantasm and Fire Fox/Bird with both dragon lunge and counter surge. It is much easier to gimp fire fox/bird off-stage with dragon lunge before they start moving, so if you know what angle they are returning to the stage from below, you can cut them off. If illusion/phantasm is being spammed, you can deliver a quick b-stick reverse instant-pin dragon lunge as they pass you on-shield. Falco's falling speed is enough that simple d-tilt/u-tilt/u-air combos work until about 60-70%, and then its only another 40% before you are in a comfortable range to start KOs. Both of these special moves can be counter surged easily as well if Falco is approaching from above and dragon lunge is not a viable option.

Corrin has more range on fair and nair, but the difference is close, and if not timed perfectly Falco's Fair will win. I cannot verify 100% but I believe draconic ascent will also have priority over Falco's fair and nair but lose to dair, making it a viable option near the top of screen if you can approach at a slight horizontal angle.
