How does the backroom for any given Smash game form? Is it mostly veterans from previous BRs, or new faces? Think its gonna be interesting to see how the S4BR comes into being judging by what the Smash scene has become.

I suppose it will be mainly founded by mods, TOs and top players from other games that want to pick up S4. Then players who earn themselves a name among the community will get to candidate in it.
But tbh, a BR won't really be needed for the first month or so (unless some unforeseen stuff happens that makes us seriously reconsider the traditional stock+time limit+no items+banned stages ruleset)

Yea, I agree.
There really should be no BBR for this new game, until some time has passed.
Gotta give it sometime for some really good contributors/Tourney goers to arise.

I'm going to bump this because I think it needs some consideration.
Does Smash 4 even need a backroom? In reality, all ruleset power lies in the hands of the most capable TOs, and most of the higher level game knowledge tends to lie with the top players, who usually aren't part of the back rooms to begin with.

Tournaments will be chaotic for months without an established ruleset, but let them be so. Everyone will play around and rules will be established in time.

The most chaotic aspect of rulesets will be which stages to to ban or leave open as neutral or counterpick, but that depends on the stages themselves. Some are fairly cut and dry, while others can be very borderline.

You mean all they do in the backroom is discuss the rules for tournaments? Booooriing. Man I though that it was like a secret club where they hang out and eat pizza and chat about clouds or something.
