For one thing, I've never heard of this rumor.

For another, it'd never happen: the rights to Mario, Pokemon, Kirby, Zelda, the Fire Emblem guys, Donkey Kong, F-Zero, Sonic and Animal Crossing have all been bought up, there's no way you could have SSB. It's similar in a way to why you'll never see a Spiderman/Fantastic Four movie: Spiderman's movie rights are owned by Sony, the Fantastic Four by FOX.
