In all respect to SamuraiPanda, I think his theory might not as good as you think.

Let's take a look on what Sakurai has said about the demo.

" And it appears that this event will display the first ever public playable version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl! I am planning on having people play the game—but with limited character selection. "

Limited character selection. That obviously means less then normal, and only showcasing the ones they CAN showcase. Zelda? No, because Shiek could be in. Kirby? They got lazy with making the hats for the demo(or whatever else). You get the point.

Another quote.

" The problem is Sonic. What to do... I suppose if we’re going to all this trouble, perhaps we should make him playable. "

What do you mean "make him playable", Sakurai? Oh wait, doesn't that mean your not SUPPOSED to be playing Sonic, since he is unlockable secret? Guess what, thanks to his announcement being inches away from the delay, it only makes sense to let us try him out. Sakurai won't torture us like that. Basically, Sonic is unlockable but was playable in the demo because of all the hype built up days before, when he was Announced.

Bottom line. The demo showcased the characters Nintendo handpicked. Its not the starting, its a LIMITED roster. Which makes sense for a demo.

Panda's. The thing I found the most ridiculous about it was that I hadn't noticed a lot of people actually supporting the "OMG starting roster!!" theory until he posted the exact same thing the few supporters were.

Then everyone immediately starts agreeing.

Why make an update about the demo and say "Limited roster" then turn around and say "This is the final starting roster?"

Why don't you guys understand that the theory wasn't meant to be taken as absolute fact but as something that could possibly come true that we should be open to. Honestly...
