Sprite Advice Needed: trying to create a Sonic CD Sprite

Hey everyone. I'm trying to create a sprite sheet based on the Sonic CD Intro movie. I've never seen a proper sprite based on the animation, and I decided to do it myself. I am a beginner spriter, and I am novice at shading and other techniques like that. I would appreciate any tips from other sonic spriters (or spriters in general).

This is what I have come up with so far.

What do you think? Once I refine and perfect this single frame, I will start work on a sheet.

I think the body looks a little bit fuzzy and the hair isn't spiky enough. Perhaps bring Sonic's ears forward a little bit?

The shoes are done quite well, though.

Thanks, I based the shoes directly off of the sonic 3 shoes, but I got rid of the white bottom. And yeah, I'll clear up the body. I'll also see what it looks like brining th ears forward.

I don't recall Sonic's head ever being that proportionally to his body.

Actually it's quite accurate for a Sonic CD sprite. :/

Just so you guys know, this is a to scale sprite that I based off sonic cd sonic. But I had my friend render a pose for me before starting the sprite.

and as for the proportions thing, they'll be normal in the sheet. He was just sort of turning his head the other way lol.
