Well...that was fast...let's add on to it:

Which move has greatest priority?
-Me First
-Sucker Punch
-ExtremeSpeed (and all those quick attack variations)

And what about moves that always go second?
-Focus Punch
-Counter
-Vital Throw
-..etc.

Oh my gosh! Thread hijack!

How long can we honestly discuss speed anyways? ^_^

Should I keep this Cresseslia or not?
Cresselia - #488 (Bold)
HP: 26
Att: 16
Def: 28
SpA: 18
SpD: 3
Speed: 8

I'm going for a Calm Minder. Lowsy Speed and Special Def messed it up. :p

Lol, you jerk, hijacking before my Q got answered.

IVs yeah? Wait...what does it matter? I thought Cresselia's IVs were set once you unleased it. I dunno though, because I haven't bothered with the Sinnoh legendaries (how do you get to those islands btw?) Isn't kinda like Latios/as, where once it started wandering around, you couldn't change its stats by simply turning off the game?

If you can change it...nice defense and HP, but if you're going for calm mind, don't you want really high special?

I know, HP and Def are excellent. :)

If I saved before I released it, and didn't save before catching, I could always just reset to re-release it again for different IVs. I used Rare Candies to check the IVs, but I have a bunch of those. I dont mind losing them.

If I go for Calm Mind, then I can always boost the low Sp. Def anyways, cant I?

Yeah, thats true, calm mind will compensate for the lack of Special IV...And Cresselia is pretty defensive as it is...What other moves are you planning for it? Is it a calm mind then sweep?

And you should also consider, how easy is it to recapture if you reset? Like, I reset/ recaught mewtwo until I got a modest one, but you can't just stand in front of Cresselia and press A to fight, can you?

The odds of me getting a Bold Cresselia with every IV above 20 (except att) would be 1/162. I really dont want to do that with a Cresselia. I would have done it with a stationary legendary, but not this.

Meh, I'm just going to keep it. Thanks.

:yoshi: With regards to the original question...

I'm not sure what determines who goes first on the first turn, but if both are equal in speed, one will go first one turn, and then the other will go first the next turn, guaranteed. They will always switch off if their speed is exactly equal and if they are using similar priority moves.

I thought the Pokemon that went first, when they both have the same speed, is the one that decides what attack to use first. For example, 2 equal Speed Pokes are battling. Poke 1 chooses an attack before Poke 2, so Poke 1 would attack first. This is assuming both Pokes use a move of the same Speed priority.

I think this was only the case on Netbattle.
