special match tournament- strategies and tactics

I am pretty new to competitive brawl, i play it here and there with friends for a couple of years, and i am just now learning alot about how to play competitively and better tactics.

I am having a tournament at my house with a bunch of friends,and were eaching throwing in a little bit of money so i want to win, heres the problem, its a "for fun" tournament where we are playing with no time limit, 3 stock, items on medium, all on the final destination map, and each round (maybe not the last few) will be 4 man free for all matches. I am playing snake for this tournament, what are some strategies i should try to incorporate?

there will be alot of diffrent players of diffrent skill levels, some kinda noobish and some are likely better than me, so what are some hints and advice that could help me out? anyone ideas for easily getting smash balls? all items will be on

Um... the rules everyone uses here are 3 stock, 8 min, best 2 out of 3, no items, MK banned, and we have a set stage list. Here's the directory from the Snake boards http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=272040 to help with learning Snake but otherwise things like smash balls are kinda irrelevant here. I suggest looking at threads about item control if items are on though. Even when I play with items on for a joke with my friends we never turn on Smash balls so I can't help you there.

learn to shield drop your grenades more then anything.


chances are the people you're gonna be facing will suck, so they'll always mindlessly attack you and never even attemtp a grab.


so just pull out a grenade, and quickly shield before they attack, they'll hit the nade, take damage, and you'll be fine. :awesome:


since you're also facing noobs you can abuse snakes forward tilt a lot and chances are they won't know how to deal with it. always go for the kill with snakes up tilt, don't ever use his forward smash or side b, learn to DACUS.


the snake boards most definitly can help you much much much much more then that, but what i listed will more then likely be enough to handle all the folks at your tournament, as those are all things noobs don't know how to handle when facing against snake.
