You know how just about every Link or every Shulk that you see on For Glory does the same exact flowchart tactic that end up in losses to your record and unnecessary anger? Well, this is good! My friend got super butthurt because I beat him a ton with Sheik so I decided to change, which I was going to regardless. I couldn't find a main but I ended up with Link. I don't like copying others or spamming, so I just improvised by using Down Smashes, Dairs, and Forward Smashes. Along with Neutral attacks and tilts, I increased my Win Rate from 34% to 90% in past 100 Battles!! This is amazing!

So my point is that, if people keep spamming/using the same tactic such as Bowser Jr's side special to jump to fair or Sonic's spin dash into jump into up aerial, then if you pick those commonly used characters and use a completely different playstyle, you win! People who are accustomed to punishing those spammers cant react to an all new playstyle that fast. People who play against these characters will be expecting completely stale moves that they see used by every Duck Hunt or every Ike.

Pros:
Win Rate :GCU:
Unexpected opponents using moves that leave them open
Feeling unique

Cons:

People who see you using someone they hate (Diddy, Toon Link, etc.) they might double sd in order to avoid confrontation.... But thats an extra win to your record!

In most of the cases, it only takes seconds to find out if someone is a spammer or not. Most people can adapt very quickly.
Playing as Link or another character with a lot of projectlies (or someone else who is considered a spam character) doesn't grant you a free win... It's not as simple as you want it to be.

I'm just basing it on my past 100 battles. And it is a free win if a player SDs twice.

In all of my online battles, I have never seen someone SD twice just because I played a character that they apparently disliked.

And besides, having your opponent SD twice and being happy to get a free win is stupid anyway. How do you wanna improve like that? If you think your WL ratio is something important, we can drop this little conversation.

Edit:
In case I sound a little offensive, don't be offended. That is not the purpose of my posts.

Nono.. I don't worship the Ratio chart. I do, however support uniqueness in battles over stale, repetitive gameplay. And the 2SDs = Free Win is just to appeal to those who care about Wins>Losses.

Lol. Yup they do help. But not in that way. Plus if they SD twice the win is not really satisfying as you might think. If they keep on doing the same thing over and over again then that's a free stock for you. Don't get angry over them instead learn to adapt to their playstyle. For example, if Link keeps on using his projectiles, then short hop or jump and fast fall is your friend OR just shield while walking towards him. Be alert though, because sometimes they tend to roll a lot when you get near them, which even gives you more advantage, since rolling is punishable. If it's Sonic or Shulk is spamming, they're spams are pretty easy to punish with grabs.
It's not worth it to get angry over spammers. Just adapt. Lol when you do this correctly on either spammers or roll abuse, then SOME of them get angry easily (which means they can't be fully focus), especially those players who think they're so good by just rolling everywhere and throwing projectiles carelessly.
