Hi im al Falco player... ^^

Ive got the basics down, shl, approach, combos etc.
But to be honest, since the shine makes falco hart to get grabbed i didnt care about spacing yet.
Of course, i know the hitboxes of marth etc, where i can stand, and not get grabbed/ fsmashed.

But should a falco player also space lik all the other character, land behind the character odr far enough , to not get grabbed? sounds noobish i know ^^

Tell me something about spacing... im a spacing b00n :lick:
thx, lexxil... ^^

i space out against every character(not all)... it's just my personal style unless im going in for the kill... it's good to play aggressive and defensive... i mainly space out against ganondorf, marth, doc, and mario (b/c of their cape) but oh well...

I space agaisnt alot of characters as well, I like to keep just enough distance away that I could do a forward SHL into a shine. I guess I just do this because im addicted to stun? lol. Its really good to space characters with no projectiles and having them constantly whiffing. Its a good mindgame and sometimes they can get a little angry (Which doesnt exactly help their game). Umm.. the best advice I can give you is to just KNOW yur hitboxes. Would be pretty funny to sit there a few inches away from oppenent thinking your out of his/her range and yur really right in it.. Learning hitboxes arent too hard nowadays. Its also good to know oppenents sweetspots (Marth=Tip, Peach UpSmash = Shoulder area i believe?, blah blah) for defensive/spacing reasons. To be a good spacer, you have to know your stuff.

spacing is a good technique to learn... especially against fast people like: fox/sheik/ & capt. falcon... it can be to your advantage or disadvantage... but if you use it right... it's to your advantage... just always have a back up plan

my suggestion is not to "space out" while playing, cause if you stop paying attention, you'll probably get killed...

but seriously, spacing, while not always spacing far away, is incredibly important w/ falco, you can use the shl/ rshl to space around your opponents attacks, with good spacing, you can always find openings in your opponents game, what do you think marth does the whole time?

The problem Falco has with spacing is that he has preset distances in which he can move while lasering. If you don't mix up your approaches, your weaknesses become striking. Even a little dash or wavedash in between lasers can completely affect the outcome of the approach you are planning. During scuffles, Falco fares better than most and has a good crouch and fast moves so you should work on staying close on most characters.

The only characters I would be careful staying close to are the ones who out crouch you like peach, or the ones with retardedly close range grabs and priority like marth.
