Hey there, hope this is the right place to post this. Recently most of my characters voices and sound effects from attacks have just stopped happening. I thought I'd be able to live with it at first but when it's more than a few characters and when matches become completely silent except for the background music it gets a bit annoying. I'm using the PAL 4.1 (yes, still stuck on that >_>) set with some textures and PSAs if that makes a difference.

PAL has different SFX IDs, therefore if you use PSAs made by NTSC folks you'll get muted soundeffects.

There's no solution to this other than not using PSAs.

Rats. Any chance anyone will make SFX IDs for PAL? It shouldn't be that hard. Some characters that don't have PSAs on them are muted too~

It doesn't need to be a psa. If the texture was made with an NTSC pac, the same thing will happen.

Only solution is for you to manually port the stuff over to PAL.

Most of us are NTSC, so we wouldn't devote our time into making something we could never use.
Try looking for a talented PAL PSA user.

Though I'm pretty sure NTSC pacs won't work for PAL regardless if they've been edited.

EDIT: Got Ninja'd by Alpha

Nope that's not true. Textures work just fine unless we're talking about effect textures since those use the same pacs that PSA does. Trust me I've been running a texture hacking tutorial on a fairly popular german smash forum for more than half a year now and no one ever complained about muted SFX until effect textures came along. In fact I've been using textures on my PAL copy just fine before I switched to NTSC.

They technically should. FitCharXX.pacs are virutally the same anyway and the only difference in the FitChar.pacs are the SFX IDs, at least from what I've seen.

But yeah it would be a waste of time. Anyone who really is into Brawl Hacking should get themselves a NTSC copy anyway.

Install HBC and you can run NTSC Brawl from Gecko. That's what I do. I'm English. O_o

I'm not going to say how to install HBC, it's against forum guidelines. Google isn't hard to use though. ;)

Dragonrage is right. It's only for effect textures. Like pikachu's PAL red thunder.

I've had HBC for ages now >_> That's how I use Pacs and PSAs and so on.
