I kid you not, in some awful wonderful way:

Look, I brought proof!

Yoda and Darth Vader have now surpassed Spawn and Link as the "Most Random Characters in Anything Ever".

Seriously Namco - What.The.****.

Vader and Yoda aren't even that recent. The new Star Wars are trash movies, but even then they didn't warrant an appearance in a fighting game. Oh well, should give the game some hits.

I getting some bad "Masters of the Tera Kasi" memories. On a game play standard, Yoda may be the new Necrid (who I'll admit, I mained in SC2), his height screams low kick spam.

I just sat and stared at the screen and said "What?" repetitively for 10 minutes. Then I saw Joystiq did the same thing.

This is by far the most absurd thing I've ever seen, and I include the time I saw a paralyzed dwarf cruising downhill on campus in a wheelchair at an insanely high speed which caused a skateboarding "bro" to use extreme agility to dodge, and a 65+ year old man in a karate gi to freaking jump kick and roll onto the grass out of the way of the wheeling demon.

when I first saw this in another thread, there was only a picture of Darth Vader and no source. I saw the "1Up" and assumed it was photoshopped rather well from the site. But now, I shut up. Excuse me, but...

OMFGWTFLMAOBBQ1!!!1!!

http://kotaku.com/343067/ps3-xbox-360-get-exclusive-star-wars-soulcalibur-iv-characters

Well, 360 got hosed. PS3 gets Darth Vader (whoo! I might play it after all since it is an exclusive) and 360 gets Yoda.

I guess it's not going to the Wii.
Dammit, I want to play as Vader!

I now have a reason to buy a PS3 other than the next Kingdom Hearts or Monster Rancher game.

That's a deal breaker. As dumb (and awesome) as it is, I plan on maining the Lord of the Sith, Yoda just seems really cheap to me.

Yeah right, Mitsurugi can match up to Vader.

Dear god, that's stupid. Why....I mean...shouldn't Darth use a clone army? Or just force Choke his oponents? Or, I dunno, shoot them with a freaking lazer?

Just....ugh.

Force Unleashed will be out before Soul Calibur 4. Also, I was vastly confused by the fact that a lightsaber did no damage to a sword. Did they just assume we'd ignore that?

Wow, that's just lame that they forced us to pick again. I guess since Vader is black he goes to the PS3, and since Yoda is green he goes to the 360. I didn't think they could top Spawn and Link in SC III, but they outdid themselves. I still think it's incredibly weird that they added Star Wars characters. I watched the trailer and heard the breathing and was thinking, "Noooo...they did not...," but yes they did. The graphics look amazing for this game, and I'm still having trouble choosing who to pick.

Here's the trailer for anyone yet to witness its awesomeness: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/29535.html

EDIT: Wii want Mace Windu! He needs to be equipped with recognizable Samuel L Jackson catchphrases, namely, "I've had it with these motha****in snakes on this motha****in plane!"

Maybe Paramount and LucasArts got pass the whole fan idea of "Star Trek vs. Star Wars" and were able to work together in a crossover. Paramount let Lucas use some of the Trek technology to create Lightsabers set to stun, not kill.....

Hey, I don't see anyone else coming up with far-fetched justifications to why they ignore continuity other than the fact it's a NON-CANON guest apperance in a VIDEO GAME, so why shouldn't I be the first?

Considering the arguably Force-sensitive fighting abilities of the traditional Soul Calibur fighters, we can assume that they can imbue their weapons with the Force in the manner that some canon Star Wars Expanded Universe characters imbue their own weapons. A lightsaber striking a force imbued weapon does not ignore the weapon's hardness. Thus, the force imbued but otherwise mundane weapon will not break unless the lightsaber deals enough damage to break the weapon through force of strength.

Edit: Even if they didn't imbue their weapons with the Force, the Soul Charge is a manifestation of the fighter's arguably high spiritual energy, and thus the weapon is force imbued anyway.

It seems that we may get the same gameplay balance issues that have plagued the series. What problem would Darth Vader or Yoda have fighting the likes of Nightmare or Taki? Lightsaber his heavily over-desgigned *** and force choke the *****.

Also: Remember Darth Maul in Tony Hawk?

It wasn't freaking iconic James Earl Jones voiced Darth Vader! Besides, both Spider-Man and Eddie the mascot of Iron freaking Maiden were playable in the Tony Hawk series.

Changed title to make it clearer that this is the Soul Calibur topic. Discuss all things Soul Calibur 4 in here.

Actually, the gameplay in the video looks pretty sweet. Hopefully this game won't be so **** unbalanced. That was SCIII's biggest problem *looks at Xianghua*

Nightmare was overpowered.

Anyway this is a genius marketing strategy, you know Star Wars fans will buy the game now.

It was actually Setsuka who was banned in a lot of tournaments for being broken iirc.

Im a huge fan of the Soul Calibur series, but this announcement pretty much kills any enthusiasm I had for the 4th installment. Lightsabers and the Force do not belong anywhere near this franchise. If Vader or Yoda really wanted Soul Edge, I would put the over/under at about 3 hours between the time they decided they wanted it and the time the deed was done. I really can't wait to read the story that ties them into the quest for Soul Edge, as I predict it will be high comedy.

God I'm so pissed right now

This announced for Soul Calibur 5 - Frodo and Gollum. Both characters will be only exclusive to the Phantom gaming system.

This top the scale of ridiculousness. I mean seriously... this was a bigger WTF moment than putting Snake into Brawl.

At least now I'm happy I've got a PS3 instead of an XBox360...although I do miss getting Mass Effect.

Well, us PS3 owners got Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted if that helps.

Back on topic, I remember the only illegals in SC3 Tourneys was Setsuka, Abyss, and Olcadan (which is idiotic).

...WHAT??

What are they thinking? I mean, the console exclusive characters in Soul Calibur II seem to fit in with the other characters and the universe... but DARTH VADER AND YODA? That's like putting Bill Cosby in Brawl. It'll be confusing and it makes no sense whatsoever. And I know that they probably won't have this for the Wii, but what if there WAS a Wii version? Who would be the Star Wars character? A Stormtrooper? Jar Jar?

I agree

At least Link, Spawn, and Heiachi from Tekken were from fighting video games....Darth Vader and Yoda just....do not fit!

Go watch smash kingdom on newgrounds and it is like putting Duke Nukem or Master cheif in brawl basically....just two different worlds sort of speak. I love Star Wars and probably more about it than anyone on here....but umm yeah...thats ********.
