From the creator of the Sonic (universe) boss thread, and the S.S.S. I give you the Sonic Assist Trophy thread.
At 1st people thought 3rd parties were not going to be represented as well as the main feature: Nintendo characters. However many events have proved that wrong. Like Metal Gear Solid having an AT, and Sonic's role in the Subspace Emissiary. This thread is to spread awareness of the possible ATs from the legendary Sonic series. Which characters of the colorful Sonic characters could get the honor of being represented as ATs? I have a couple ideas that may satisfy many. I have them listed by Probaility and Popularity. So without further adieu, it's jelly and jam time.

Sonic AT I: Miles "Tails" Prower

Age: 8
Species: Fox
Gender: Male
1st Apperence: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992, Genesis)
Description: Ah Yes. The Robin of the Sonic series, the Luigi of the series, the Agualad (Okay not so much). Tails is 1st because he is overall... a shoe in for an AT. With or without his machines, Tails can be a pretty unique AT. Even though I would love him to be a playable, his best chances are serving as an AT. Tails is the 3rd most popular character, next to Sonic and Shadow. Considering he is still more popular then Knuckles (At 4th place) even though Knuckles has been more appealing to newer and older fans. That's a pretty loyal fanbase for a Sidekick. Then again Sidekicks have been very popular recently. Don't believe me? Look up Luigi and you'll see. But Tails deserves more representation then just a sticker or a trophy. After all, he did get 2 official games in the 90's. 4 if you include the Music Maker and the McDonalds Mini game. Which is more then Shadow got, and hopefully will always be. So below I have a list of ideas for Tails AT possibilities. And while I have them, I will allow Votes for one for more interactivity. Enjoy.

1. Tails the Life-Saver
   In this one, I've heard this one many times. It's where Tails appears. Strikes a pose. Flys away. Making person think he was just another Goldeen. Until that player falls. Tails will be shown saving your character's stock. But be careful, if you had high damage. Tails won't save you the next time you fall. Tails can only save you once.
2. Tails the Assault Pilot
   This one is rather simple compared to Life-saver. Tails comes out in his Tornado II. In which he uses weapons to fire on everyone except your character. While it is straightforward. Many Nintendo character scan already do this for the AT of them. So don't consider this too much.
3. Tails the Helper
   This is an interesting Idea I came up with. For a temporary time, Tails will follow your character STH2 style. He will assist you with more punch Ice Climbers style. Maybe if not limited time, maybe until he is hit away. It would be a throwback. Yet having Tails did what he did with Sonic with a character like Ike or Meta Knight migh tbe awkward for fans.

Sonic AT II: Knuckles the Echidna

Age: 16
Species: Echidna
Gender: Male
1st Appearence: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (1994, Genesis)
Description: While the newest of the classic characters, he is a very popular character. While not as much as Sonic and Tails. He can still be boasted to beat all the newer characters except Shadow in popularity. While most people on these boards would prefer Knuckles over Tails as a PC if it were possible, they must be faced with the fact that they may be overrating Knuckles. But still, back in 94. Knuckles was the big guy around. He was an attempt to appeal to the aging Sonic fans at the time, and for a time it did in fact work. Then somehow he got the ability to go in the past as Sonic & Knuckles was able to launch Knuckled into Sonic 2 & 3. If you did Sonic 1 however, all you could get was a message or with a cheat code: Blue Sphere. Knuckle's part have influenced many of Sonic Game's plot. Such as him finding the master emerald in SA1 & 2. He also has a sort of friendly rivalry with Sonic. When he got angry, he's fight anyone in his way: Including Sonic. He is also known for being gullible. Poor Knux, he can't just finish Robotnik when he should know already that he's planning to trick him... Even with his popularity, Knuckles only starred in one game of his own: Knuckles Chaotix. When he was paired off with Vector, Charmy, Espio, and Mighty on a conquest to defeat Robotnik. The only thing that hinders Knuckle's AT chance is already the existence of another. Ironically with Knuckle in the name: Knuckle Joe. But here's a few ideas:

1. Knuckles on the Rampage
   This particular one is unlikely because Knuckle Joe already has that covered pretty much. Knuckles would go around punchign anyone in his way except who summoned him. And his final attack being a massive knockback punch.
2. Knuckles and the M.E.
   In this one, Knuckles would summon the Master emerald. The problem is though, is that the M.E. isn't known for causing destruction.
3. Knuckles Earthquake
   Pretty Starightforward, Knuckles punches the ground as hard as he can. And a shockwave stuns all players except the summoner.

Sonic AT III: Dr. Eggman/Robotnik

Age: 30(??)
Species: Human
Gender: Male
1st Appearence: Sonic the Hedgehog (1991, Genesis)
Description: (This is only here if this guy doesn't get Boss status) The evil Dr. Robotnik is here. The Bowser of the series, it is possible that Robotnik was based on the cold war with Russia. If you have noticed the "nik" in the name. Sonic may be considered America because of Blue fur, Red shoes, and White gloves. While it may have been just a coincidence, that may be just why Robotnik is a popular evil icon. His plan to turn innocent animals into robots angered players, to encourage them to free them with the power of Sonic the Hedgehog. His boss battles were always a challenge *** you further went through the game. Even though he has teamed up with Sonic in the past, that doesn't stop him from stil being the same evil insane doctor he was back in 1991. He created the Death Egg, based on the Star Wars film. Which took a total 2 games for Sonic to totally destroy. He is still Sonic's main block from receiving peace even with more pure evil characters such as Black Doom and Mephiles. While he had availaibility to be an AT. People would rather have him as a SE boss. However if that doesn't happen. An AT would be good enough for the good (not really) old doctor.

1. Wrecking Ball!
   The wrecking ball refers to the very 1st time you fight him in Sonic the Hedgehog Uno. It would be very classic. And just trying to avoid the thing would bring back so many memories.
2. Any other Machine
   Yeah, rather generic. But I couldn't possibly list ALL of the doctor's machines. Any machine he would pull out would do damage to anyone in his sights. Or he could pull out a random one when he is summoned.

Sonic AT IV: Shadow the Hedgehog

Age: Unknown (50 if you count all his years frozen)
Species: Hedgehog
Gender: Male
1st Appearence: Sonic Adventure 2 (2001. Dreamcast)
Description: Oh Boy, the Hedgehog that surprisingly has beat all characters except for Sonic in popularity is here. Personally I am getting sick of people calling Shadow better then Tails or Knuckles. But I can't doubt how he got that popularity in the 1st place. Sega wanted an Anti-Hero and they got one. And now he is a disgrace with his recent game yet still remains popular. Sometimes I wonder if the Sonic series would have been better off if Sega didn't bring back Shadow from SA2. But I guess that would p*ss off so many fans of him. Shadow won't be a Playable character, And i'm starting to doubt he'll be an Alt. So an AT is all Shadow fans can hope for. I'd rather prefer a Chaos move rather then a violent gun attack. It would be more of a throwback to when he was actually more awesome in SA2 then in ShadTH.

1. Chaos Control
   In this one, Shadow would stop time. The only person not effected is the summoner who can beat up the slower reaction times of the others. But it is only for a short while.
2. Chaos Blast
   Pretty Straightforward again, Shadow unleases a powerful surge of energy devastating foes.
3. Teleport Attack
   Maybe this is a fun one, Shadow strikes a pose. Then teleports to a random character the summoner is opposing (if in 1 VS. 1 the non-Summoner is attacked) He only attacks one character though.

Sonic AT V: Amy Rose

Age: 12
Species: Hedgehog
Gender: Female
1st Appearence: Sonic CD (1993, Sonic CD)
Description: Amy is the 4th classic character to debut. However her popularity does not really come in par with the others. She is the self-proclaimed girlfriend of Sonic. She is also the sole reason why there are female Sonic fans. If it wasn't for her, the only Sonic fans would be boys or tomboy girls. Amy changed looks back in 1999 in Sonic adventure. Her age used to be that of Tails but Sega changed that age weirdly while all the others stayed the same. Amy hasn't been really big of a role lately however. Her last game to be fully playable in the story of a Sonic game. Was Sonic 06 for a short while and Sonic Advance 3. I have severe doubt that Amy will appear as an AT. I think a Sticker or Trophy will be her spot in the game, if any at all. What especcialy hinders Amy is the use of the hammers. It is already a Item and a weapon for Ice Climbers, De De De, and Kirby.

1. Piko Piko Hammer
   Very unlikely, but maybe somehow Amy swinging around the hammer around can be different from the item
2. Amy the Hammer Giver
   Yeah, I was bored. Nothign else except this one Amy gives a Hammer item to your character. But once again unlikely.

Nice list, though I'm sort of skeptical about your stating "(blank character) is more/less popular than (blank-othercharacter)," especially since characters or more or less popular amongst different types of people. Did you have a source or something?

That aside, this is the best and certainly the most impartial (mostly) list that I've seen compiling Sonic AT's chances.

I like the Random Machine Eggman idea, it gives a new reference (and a new reason to be on your toes) every time.

Yes I did have a source. There was an official poll on the popularity of Sonic characters thre results of the characters are the top 4.

1. Sonic (obviously)
2. Shadow
3. Tails
4. Knuckles

I don't know if Robotnik was on the poll anywhereand I do not know Amy's place on it.

And thanks HolyNightmare. It took me about an hour or so to get all the details and information right. I make more informative threads rather then just saying a statement usually. I try to type as professional as I can and as Sonic fan as I can.

No offense Smahbro29. But I think Blaze is a little too new. The characters that I have been at least known for 7 years. Silver is just a confirmed Sticker. The only thing I see Silver is just that or also a Normal Trophy. Even though Silver is newer then Blaze, Blaze is just too new for an AT.

Tails or Knuckles will be my ideal choices for assist trophies. I always pictured Knuckles just gliding back and forth across the screen and damaging all (except the user) who stood in his path, but Rampage and Earthquake sound better.
Tail's the lifesaver is a good idea but do you mean that he only saves you once you've flown off the screen (life up!) or if you're just off the stage, therefore saving you the trouble of recovering. I definetely think that if Tails is an AT they should make use of his flight.

As for Shadow i've never personally liked him but I understand that he's a very popular character so I wouldn't be too disappointed if he was included as an AT since it'd please a lot of his fans.

"Tails the Life Saver" or "Knuckles on a Rampage" would be the ATs I would like to see.

Robotnik should be a SSE boss, and he uses a few of his old boss machines (with NEW AND IMPROVED 3d graphics ).

I would wish to have Vector or Jet the hawk in this game somehow. I believe that it must be a reason why Vector suddenly showed up in Mario vs soni at the olympic. And I am one of those people who wants to have Knuckles as a PC, but only time will see

i have heard that Tails is an AT, i guess its someone from E4all saying that Tails flies around dropping some sorts of bombs, and i believe it was written somewhere in the wikipedia.

Be aware though that was one person. If we want a true reliable source, there'd have to be many who saw it. The guy may have been just lieing to be noticed. And he could have edited the Wikipedia page.

EDIT: And Viral, I meant the latter, if you have Tails summoned. You won't have to try to recover. But Tails should be used more if there is no way to recover. The only down side is that You will still have the same damage. Tails saved you and all, but he's not a miracle worker.

Great thread I also don't think the hammer factor isn't holding Amy back at all. I mean, Gray Fox comes in with a sword and there are tons of those in Brawl already. Like the Lyn AT, the beam sword, and several characters.

I made a thread earlier with Sonic assist trophies...i thought up of chao...you think maybe you could implement them somehow sonicmario?

And maybe you can think of a way to add the angel and dark chao....

The only thing i could really come up with is that a few of them come from the AT and attack the players kind of like Pit's Final Smash and just continue to fly back and forth a couple times.....

As for the angel and demon chaos, the best i could come up with is that the angel chaos attack evil characters (depending on their role in the SSE) and demon chaos attack the hero characters and the neutral chaos attack everyone else....

Also, great ideas for sonic assist trophies sonicmario...very in-depth...i like! I think maybe for Knuckles and the M.E....umm, knuckles summons the master emerald, the fighting which goes on breaks the master emerald....then knuckles is really pissed off with whoever broke it....you can go on from there....lol

And Playah, Chaos aren't really that likely. They have very minor roles. From taking care of them in Adventure to cameos in more recent ones. It would be more better if we had something classic or Shadow (Yes I do not count Shadow as classic

Great thread SonicMario. I like the Tails life saver idea,though I'm a liittle fuzzy on the high percentile factor.Knuckles Earthquake seems a little anti climatic for a third party AT,but it's sort of hard for someone like that.Robotnik's ball is awesome,and I thought the same think abuot Shadows chaos control.If they thought Chaos control was too powerful,maybe give him chaos spear.

Chaos control still applys because ATs are sort of broken. Like the Devil going to the left or right almost always causing a KO. Chaos Control would just be another broken one.
