About America, i've heard a lot of times (from americans) that the best (whatever) in America means the best in the world.
America is only 7% of the worlds population lol. Past American goverments (basically republican) constantly overrate their own country (It actually happens with a lot of right wing governments in the world) and also claim themselves as some kind of owners of the world. I hope that Obama's government is more realistic.

Pretty much every American government has done that since the old days. It's not just a republican thing. Hell, it even goes back to "Manifest Destiny", how it was our destiny to go from "sea to shining sea".

And, technically, Europe likes to constantly critique America, and claim that they're better for reason X, if we want to get to country bashing. Every country apparently hates each other [I mean overall, not everyone]. But I know what you mean, some Americans think they're the only players.

I'd fix up stuff and post more, but my dad is rushing me to turn this off.

European PEOPLE constantly bash Americans. I'll give you two examples.

Example 1: Obama said something about putting an emissions tax that'll bankrupt the coal companies unless they manage to find clean coal [which doesn't happen overnight]. I didn't think he'd actually do it when the time came, was probably just not thinking straight in the interview [it happens, not enough time to measure benefits and costs]. So when I mentioned what he said, I also mentioned that he probably won't do it. However, I got into an argument with a European who thought it actually was a good idea. But rather than debate me, he'd rather bash America for being "100% capitalist", and typing a condescending "psh, Americans", no real logical arguments other than "it's a good idea" and "Free Health Care is good". So I got sick of it and had to go into a lengthy Economic analysis on Europe's inflexible labor market and the resultant high youth unemployment rate to halt all posting in that thread.

Example 2: There's a forum called gotfrags [full of *****, but FPS forums are like that], and I looked in a section for TF2. They were discussing the best teams in the world, Pandemic came up as the best US team, and 4Kings as the best European team. However, the Europeans kept constantly bashing Pandemic's skill, pretty much saying that all European teams were better than Pandemic [or rather a good amount]. They even used this one example as their "proof", where Pandemic entered a Euro tourney on a Euro server, and lost to 4Kings 1-2. However, they didn't mention that Pandemic made it to the finals of said tournament, DESPITE the incredible 150ms-200ms ping, and lost to 4Kings on Pandemic's worst map. Got to the point where even some Europeans were against the major group of Europeans [including a member of 4Kings, if I recall the thread right].

Some Americans were stupid too in that thread, but that's how it goes. People hate people who are people, as someone so bluntly put it once.

Yes, it's off topic, but I felt it had to be said.

Bad? On the contrary, I think they work fine.

I'm not talking about European commisions, I'm talking about European internet users. I'm saying they got problems too. Are all bad, no. But Americans are not the only ones with pride problems.

If you were talking about governments, then yes, bad examples. But you not only said the government had pride problems, but internet users too [ie best X in America = best in world line you used]. I'm addressing the latter.

That better not be the "High fines that will bankrupt Coal Companies" thing I was fearing. If it's softer than that, then it might be fine, short run electricity goes up, long run less pollution. But if he does it before the recession is over Obama is a ******. To be honest, I don't like Obama very much, but that's because his "redistributing the wealth" line hits right close to home [check my city, if you know enough about it's majority population, you'll know]. Personally, I think the laws are very well suited as an economic stabilizer for a boom. Sets it back to equilibrium, with a nice long run effect into alternate fuels and cleaner coal.

Note that I'm not bashing Europe, I'm bashing people. It doesn't where someone comes from, they can be a ******. It's not just Americans.

Again, off topic, but that's what happens when someone starts country bashing first. It ends into all sorts of crazy stuff.

tl;dr, Americans always think they're the only ones, Europeans think they're better than Americans. With HUGE exception, but the bad eggs set the example.
