I tried doing a few searches but couldn't find the right keywords I guess. I was wondering about different combos/starters/strategies that work when Nana is dead, particularly against the space animals. Is there anything that's of particular use here?

The only thing you really have going for you once Nana is gone is your spacing ability (which IC's excel at, because of their awesome WD). Outspace your opponent and strike when you see an opening in their defense.

Your combos are pretty limited solo. Downthrow is usually your best throwing option, as it leads into smash attacks and/or back airs.

When you're alone, take advantage of the fact that you can WD, dashdance, and execute your moves without the need for nana to remain synched. This basically means that you should be able to move faster when you're alone.

WD->Utilt works alright against spacies.

IMO if you really want to see how great a solo IC can be played, watch some Chu Dat.

single climber against space animals? dthrow might work but try uthrow... exspecially in low persentages. after uthrow you do dash/usmash/double uair etc. exspecially after utrow dash you can do new grab or usmash. when you have only one climber in demands way more patient to play. also WD dsmash is your friend

When Nana is gone you have to be more careful about wavesmashing. The D-smash becomes much easier to shieldgrab or punish.

Some characters can still be chain thrown with just Popo. You just have to be good at following their DI.

D-throw repeatedly
or
D-throw -> jab -> JC grab

When you want to finish it, JC up-smash out of your D-throw.

Against Space Animals:

Up-tilt -> grab or D-smash works just as well with only Popo.

Throw them towards the edge and charge a D-smash. A lot of the time people will instinctively tech away from the edge right into your attack.

Dash attack! I don't see this move get used enough with IC. With Popo, dash attack can be a combo starter or at least a way to rack up some damage. It's such a weird attack because of the forward lunge, and it's hard to avoid especially if they don't expect it.

Thanks guys, this has been helping. I've been noticing the hitbox on the dash attack is, uh...not too good, but this may be more of a timing issue on my behalf.

Biggest things that I found in solo IC's is the following
1) Spot dodging(duh)
2) ShFFl'd neutral air
3) ShFFl'd up air's on heavy charcters or poor DI( Ganon suffers from this to f smash)
4) When on ledge edge hop to blizzard as early as possible.

These all help the combos start up quick, but just my idea of solo IC
