Software for Recording Matches

What do you guys use to record your online matches? I'm specifically looking for something free to use.

I've used Debut in the past for a good year, but since my trial expired I can't record anymore. I've used Hypercam, Fraps, and CamStudio before and all three had nuances (Ex. watermark, bad quality, unintuitive interface) that made them annoying to use.

Bandicam seems to be alright however it has their website url on the top of the video. I've been using it to look back on my matches to see where I can improve and I have no complaints with it.

Doesn't Fraps have that watermark at the top saying something like "www.fraps.com"? If possible I want to use free software that doesn't have something like that. Then again, if the watermark is small enough that it doesn't cause a problem then I may look into it.

EDIT: I checked out Bandicam and I'm really liking it, despite that small watermark at the top. The interface is very intuitive and both the image and audio quality are great!

The only problem with Fraps is the file size it generates. The other day I recorded 5 matches and it all amounted to 40GB or something.

I wanna try a new one.

OBS (open broadcast software), you need a good computer but very high quality.

Get the full version of Fraps. Or get the full version of Dxtory, in Dxtory you can choose what resolution you want to record to. You can also compress the video file so it records better.

I was going to recommend DXtory since as a PC gamer, Dxtory is the best recording program ever and a godsend, but dxtory doesn't work on most of the video plugins that PJ64k uses.

I've been attempting to use Fraps and after like 15 mins or more the playback from the recorded game in p2p will start to lag because of Fraps, which Fraps decides to record in real time so it ends up coming out so ****ed up. Is there any general consensus on which ones are good to use for recording smash videos from .krec files in Playback?

Also, I can't believe a tornado on Hyrule causes a whole 2+ hour session to be desynced after 2 matches on DL and first match on Hyrule it desyncs and won't go past that part. Ridiculous that it's ds'ing on a locally recorded file...

Wait, can a match that didn't DS suffer from DS when on playback mode?
As Sangoku said, yes. This happened to a file of mine just yesterday. A 2+ hour session without a single ds just desynched after the first time someone got caught in a hyrule tornado.

So I watched some of Kimimaru's vids, thought they looked good, and decided to test out Bandicam. And it looks choppy. :( http://youtu.be/lBcZTS0XW1o

I don't get it because I set it to high quality: Video: MPEG-1 (VBR) 59.94 fps, 100q
What settings am I supposed to use?

And does the option DirectX/Open GL window not work only for me? I had to manually drag the rectangle.
And when I put it on Sony Vegas it loses sound? wth

I couldn't get DirectX/Open GL to work either; I think you need to register to use it. I just need to use rectangle anyway.

For video settings I have the following:
Video: Xvid (VBR)
Full Size, 30.00fps, 80q

I'm not sure about Sony Vegas since I don't have it, but raise the volume for the video if you can and see what happens.

What I love most about Bandicam is how easy it is to use. My past experience with screen recorders UIs hasn't been good so I'm glad to have found one where I can start recording right after opening it up (with the rectangular recording region in the same spot too!) without having to set a bunch of other things up.

Mixa, I used the same compression format as you (Video: MPEG-1 (VBR) 59.94 fps, 100q) but then followed up with an edit done on VirtualDub (to crop and to resize to youtube dimensions 854x480 for 480p) and encoded it with Xvid and it came out looking better than the original. Maybe try encoding directly to xvid, I do prefer the 60fps over the 30fps, definitely lowers the choppy-ness of the video.

Thanks, guys. I'll try all that.

By the way, breakthrough, do you have any videos online?
