So I saw The Empire Strikes Back last night for the first time in a few year, and I have to say, a decent amount of the special effects still hold up today!
Of course, some of the effects look dated, such as some of the scenes with ships flying, and Luke falling after the fight with Vader at the end (I actually laughed at how bad it looks today), but for a movie made in 1980, it looks astonishing.
I never hated the prequel trilogy, but I have to admit that the original trilogy ironically looks better than the prequels in terms of special effects. I really hope the sequel trilogy has a combination of real sets/parts and modern special effects, so the CGI has a sense of realism to it, and looks like it's actually there.
