it would be pretty cool if we could some how record a melee match catching every single frame, slow it down, and see just how far from perfect some of the top players are

is anyone out there recording at such a speed as to capture every frame?

When you say you want to see how far from perfection a player is, do you rely on SDI, reaction time, speed of the fingers, something else?

I think it would be hard to judge a player's abilities with such a video, because we wouldn't be able to judge things such as reads, predictions, spacing et tutti quanti.

Also, I think AJP Anton is the best recorder at the moment, but I have no idea about whether he could record every single frame independently of the others or not...

^that

like how fast is someones wavedash OoS, or how fast are their aerials coming out after they jump, how much time could they have delayed their aerials, how imperfect SHL are or the dash after an L cancel

that type of stuff

Ok, technical abilities only, I hadn't understood it this way.

Then I agree with you. It could be pretty interesting to analyze this. I've already wondered how fast Zhu's dashdance was for instance, haha.

My guess would be that most top players can get within a few frames of perfect tech, but I doubt anyone consistently performs any technique frame perfect more than half the time (at least in game; if you are talking about just performing like in tech skill videos, I'm sure players operate with much higher consistency).

Dark can do it, he's a super saiyan. But some capture cards can be set to record at 60fps, which means you would be able to slow those down and look at every frame.
