So how do YOU personally approach with missles?

I've seen short hop homing, and landing smash missles, short hop two smash missles or two homing, full hop homing, homing etc.

I occasionally will do a full jump to fire off a pair of missles to set up my approach, but most of the time, I just forgo that and start short hopping in increments creating a small swarm of missiles as I go.

I notice that it can be very difficult to NOT accidentally fire off power missiles when I'm not trying to approach and I don't have the control stick already in the proper tilt position.

It seems to be really hard to fire homing missiles defensively, which is a shame, because they seem to work well in telling my opponent to bug off when I do pull it off correctly.

I don't usually approach with homing missiles, for my approach I use a Zair or a uncharged beam.

Generally I use homing missiles when my opponent is off the stage, too far for me to zair, or if I need time to charge up a beam.

I also use homing missiles if my opponent likes to camp; Pit, D3, Snake

After I've hit them with a few I'll come in with a zair or shoot out a charged beam then approach.

I primarily short hop homing missiles, and full hop super/homing missiles. It's actually very effective against all of my friends.

I shorthop all of them. Fullhopping them leaves you more open, since you're not really cancelling the lag of the first missle. I use zair to approach, homings only if they're too far away, and I never use it on Lylat Cruise, since the tilting just causes them to hit the platforms. I do try to use more smash missles though, I really want to see if they have more potential than the crap that other people are giving it. It's a lot harder to cancel than homings, but the effect is somewhat greater. It's useful for offstage harassment, since homings often lose their trail and/or blow up too soon.

Does anyone remember the "Hylian lowrider" from melee? The ledgehop-super missle-ledge grab had a 2 frame window of opportunity and was extremely difficult to execute. It's a lot easier in brawl and can be used quite effectively. Take note that it's impossible to ledgehop super missle onto the stage, unless you're on Lylat Cruise and the stage suddenly tilts in your favor. Don't count on that though.

Retreating missles tend to slow you down more than you opponent. Retreating with zair is much safer than using homing missles imo. Zair lands 4%, homing missles land 5%. Not much of a difference and zair is easier to execute.

Samus is a beast in the air, not so hot on the ground, I take to the skies whenever possible to bring out my onslaught.

I usually short-hop S. Missles for my approach, people tend to 'fear' supers over homing considering they do twice the amount of damage. Once I get in a tad closer I switch to a mixture or H. missles and Zairs depending on which way they are going.

Missle canceling Supers is allot more effective and devastating than most are giving it credit for. Timed right you can nearly have you canceled Super at the same height as a grounded one thus hitting just about anyone who can be hit by a grounded Super anyway. This plus launching a grounded Super as soon as you get your canceled Super off creates a nice Samus height wall of pain that either the opponant has to block/dodge twice, jump over, or mess up and take one or two to the face. Anyway it flows it will for the most part give you a opening to start/continue your approach or give you time to charge your Charge Shot.
