So, can a friend and I play 2v2 Matchmaking together?

What the title says. A lot of people I know were looking forward to being able to party up with a partner and play 2v2 matchmaking, and now that the Japanese version's out it looks like we can only play For Glory 1v1's(?) and For Fun's with random people.

Partying up with friends in public matchmaking has been the industry standard for years now. Is there really no way for a friend and I to party up and play 2v2's against other parties? Does anybody know for sure?

Disclaimer: I'm aware that I can create a private game and set up team games, but that is not at all what I'm asking about.

I've been wanting to know about this myself, Its what me and my irl friend has always wanted to do, TO KICK SOME ASS LINK&MARIO STYLE, yeah thats right.

It would be really cool. I don't think it will happend because we haven't heard of it and 3ds doesn't seem to have it.

There isn't a mode solely for online doubles matches. You have to make friends and set up a private room.

It is a bit of an oversight, but teams aren't played as often as 1v1, so it's understandable why they don't have that mode. Again, the 3DS seems built for casual, personal play. I feel like we'll get more options on the Wii U version.

^^^ It's more than a little oversight. Do we know for sure that you can't search with a friend?

No one seems to want to hit For Glory Team mode, so I haven't been able to see. But if there isn't matchmaking for doubles, I'll basically be out of reasons to ever play online with strangers.

Well I'm still going to be playing For Glory 1v1's, but without the ability to play 4-player matches with friends I probably won't be touching them.

So now that the Japanese game's been out for a bit, do we know if we can search 2v2's with a friend? For Glory has 2v2, but I haven't seen anyone stream For Glory 2v2's so I haven't been able to confirm anything.

We now have the answer to this question. You must be in the same room, on the same console, to play 2 vs 2 against random opponents.

I cannot play with my brother(on teams) who lives on the south side of town, against random opponents -- my whole intended purpose of buying the Wii U and Smash Bros.

Nintendo, you are NOT making great decisions. First, you have decided not to make enough GameCube controller adapters and not to release it and the controllers before the game launch.

There's a nation wide shortage at launch, further delaying the game we have already waited years to play.

How many thousands of people, brothers/friends have taken off of work and couldn't actually play the game the way they were promised?

Considering sakuari makes such a big deal about this being a casual fighter for you and your friends play TOGETHER I find it pretty ironic he didn't include any form of Organized 2v2 especially sense multiple times I've been stuck with 3 other randoms (usually from Japan) and then my game chugs like it was kicked the balls.

Are there any plans for a patch to include this mode? It was the whole reason I bought all this. If we don't get it I'll be returning the game and the system.
