Do you want to use the 3DS as a Wii U controller?

I remember that only being apart of some debunked leak, But oh my gosh i really want that to happen. The 3DS is my favorite controller right now and i would adore if i could use it on both versions of the game, What about you guys?

I hate the lack of C-stick. Only for that, 3DS is not an option for me. But also, I find the circle pad kind of tricky in a game that needs only 8 directions and a difference between tap and regular direction. And also, it's wireless, so you'd expect lag. In other words: GameCube controller's still the best option.

I don't have my copy with me or I'd just check myself, but I'm basically positive this was never "debunked." You should be good to go.

I have no qualms with those who prefer the 3DS control scheme but once the GC adapter drops with the Wii U version, I'm definitely not using the 3DS as a controller. The lack of C-stick and notches around the circle pad for stabilization makes it rather tedious to use at times.

I don't see any benefit in using the 3DS as a controller, except for the novetly, I guess.

The lack of the C-Stick means it's a poor choice compared to all other options available... except the Wiimote.

When was this debunked. I hadn't heard anything about it being not true. I've heard people say it was stupid but I haven't heard anyone say it's not true.

Well, the Wii U button on the Menu from Smash 4 says that you can use it. So...it is confirmed?

But I prefer a controller anyways. Not because of the C-Stick, I want it because it I can smash teh Joystick harder

I love the 3DS controls for Smash, but I'm worried my circle pad will break soon. Otherwise, I love having the extra option to use with friends.

It'll be a good backup since I don't have four controllers. But that's all.

I don't hate the circle pad but it's not great for smash. But definitely better than wiimote by itself

Great as a backup since I'm already use to it, but the GameCube controller is perfect.

One of the main draws of Smash U (for me) is the ability to use a good input method. No way I'm using the 3DS as a controller. I might try it once as a novelty, but I would just use a CCP if I wanted a 3DS-esque layout.

The circlepad is appalling, recognizing the entire middle half as neutral and often not properly recognizing a smash input at all. I look forward to being able to ditch it.
I agree. Also dropping down from thin platforms is kind of tedious to do too.

3DS game controls well but really has some accuracy issues with the pad.

Would be nice to have an option but I would never use it obviously. But maybe would spare me the money to buy another controller.

Now people will be able to break their Circle Pads twice as fast if they use the 3DS as a controller!

I'm totally going to use it. For me it's either Gamepad or 3DS, I'm not going to waste money on a GCN Adapter, I'm not living in 2002 anymore.

Meh. I've already got Gamecube controllers, but no Pro controllers and only the one tablet is supported. It's definitely less expensive to get the adapter than to buy a bunch of new controllers for when friends want to hang out and play. Because the Pro controllers are freaking expensive.

and I do have to admit- The general design of the Gamecube controller is my second favorite ever, after the 360 controller. Give the GCN one the analog sticks from Xbox and you've got gold.
