Snake's use for the cardboard box

Searched for a while so I'm hoping this isn't an old thread. If it is I'm sorry, please don't absolutely bombard me like I've seen happen before. This really discourages people from posting what could be an intellectual and interesting topic. Let's not miss out on great conversation.

Now onto my post... I was thinking it'd be sweet if Solid Snake's cardboard box would be his sheild! Tap the "L" and poof Snake quickly whips into his cardboard box. To me this makes more sense than Sakurai implementing the box to be used for a move. Do you think this concept is plausible or rediculous? Also if you have any ideas regarding the box as a move post this as well I'd love to hear them.

anyways, its either this or he does something like "Show your move!" so I guess it doesnt matter too much.

Well since characters can apparently crawl now, maybe he puts it on when he crawls.

Maybe the box is a shield or something. I can't really think of a use for it, didn't Sakurai say he would be using it.

I did consider posting this under all things solid snake but considering that all things solid snake is an extremely general topic that has many many posts already in it i felt that this topic would not be given any specific recognition. I really wanted to see what people thought of it so I am really hoping that the mods don't close or remove this thread. I feel that some interesting conversation could arise from the topic.

to k!lls!itch... yes sakurai did mention that the cardboard box would be implemented into the game. In one of the trailers at www.smashbros.com we even see snake exit his box. I'm not convinced however that this depiction will be how the box is implemented into the game.

It's not when he crawls because there is a scene of him crawling without it.

What would be cool (and what I'm thinking) is that ssbb is going to bring in the character appearances from the first super smash bros, like samus appearing in a save station, or Mario jumping from a pipe. Snakes would then be breaking out of his cardboard box.

Maybe for his intro? I got no other options other than it being a shield. It wouldn't be right if it was a B move. Save that for his weapons.

I thought you were going to say to make the box into an item where any character would pick it up and crawl around using it as a shield. I think that is a lot more feasible than having only Snake use it as a shield....that's just sorta weird...

Maybe snake hides in the box then jumps out and scares people, or burns them with a cigarette and it does 999 damage.

maybe it works like kirbys stone except without damage if he falls on someone and he can move around while being invincible but he cant attack

I believe it will act as a shield for him, just as yoshi's egg protect yoshi, so will the cardboard box protect snake

I want his whole moveset based off of the box.

B- Pulls out box to protect himself.
B^- gets in the box and spins around fast and creates a tornado which tosses him upward.]
B>- Grabs the box and throws it.
Bv- Grabs a hold of box and jumps and smashes it below him.

Taunt- Snake gets in his box and holds an empty cup and holds a sign saying,"Will kill for $"

I must say, that makes more sense than having the box be one of Snake's moves. After all, his franchise does need some representation in the item department (and I don't think the cigs would go over very well ) Plus, the box in the trailer has the SSB logo on it.

Granted, if it is an item, I've no idea what function it may fulfill

I don't think it should be a shield because well... it's cardboard and didn't protect him from bullets in his games. Maybe it can act a as sort of counter only it allows you to choose what move to counter with. For instance if someone kicks Snake while in box the box flys off, that charecters attack animation continue as if they never hit anything but Snake is left unphased setting up for an attack. Similiar to how in MG games if a soildier lifted the box you can easily run out at the right time unnoticed and slip behind for an easy neck break.

Out of all the hight tech gadget snake has a box is perhaps the most useful

if you put these to quotes together you get the answer ok as before ive said that snake used boxs and on the boxs where ares in the compound so in mgs you would get in a box (in which you could walk in)walk into the back of a truck and what ever the destination on the box is thats where you would go so probably since it had the ssb logo it is going to b his entrance casue he got deliverd to ssb
