Snake's cardboard box

EDIT: Damage control post realization::laugh:

Snake in his cardboard box.

We have seen snake tiptoe while his box is on his head, and we've seen him sit in it now. What does this mean? We'll it means the box is going to be a sick a$s mindgame. Here's my logic:

It seems to me that while inside the box you could do anything you want as snake, where it be just walking, or taunting, or... actual moves. Meaning that while in box you could set a remote mine(even though he does make alot of noise while planting it), or ready a grenade in your hand.

In my opinion you'll have two ways of de-boxing Snake and they are picking up the box, or plain old attacking it directly(maybe projectiles will work on it, maybe not).

1. But if you attack the box and Snake is shielding, then BAM you just got shieldgrabbed and there was no way of you knowing about it.

2. You lift the box and throw it, but BAM you eat a charged smash attack to the face.

3. You attempt to run up and grab him, but BAM you run smack into a remote mine.

4. In one photo it has Snake coming out of his box and slapping Mario over the face with it so you could mix in the suprise attack too.

There might be a couple of others I might have not thought of, but this were my initial thoughts.
I'm not even planning on playing as Snake, I'm going to try to main Bowser, but seeing Snake's mindgame possibilities is getting my fired-up to play against him in tourney.

Thoughts? Discuss.

That cardboard screenshot could as well be a staged thing.

Also, I have a feeling the cardboard box might be a regular item.

...

Nah, that would just simply blow.

I'm not sure I understand, but to me that's probably just Zelda's new general taunt. The others seem to be taunting so I figure that's her new method of praying.:ohwell:

Yea I see where the confusion comes in though.

Speculation:
Down tilt: Sweep the legs, as done in the Nintendo world trailer?
Down Smash: Remote Mine?
Down B: Cardboard box?

So what the hell was that rocket launcher downward thing he does? It's daffled me for a while, if someone could clear things up it'd be nice, but I think everything at this point is just speculation.

I just rewatched the Nintendo World Trailer, and he doesn't do anything thats even close to sweep the legs in it, the Rocket Launcher to Pits legs that i thought it was when i first saw it and still think of it to this day is that it is his Down Tilt

I'm pretty sure that "Zelda sitting" part is actually her crouch. Both her and Peach do that.

As for Snake? I was thinking the box would be his shield, since you don't really use it offensively in the games. But as we saw Snake has a bubble shield like most smashers. The box must serve some useful gameplay purpose...

Oh, wow. I just looked through it too and saw nothing. I'm imagining things.

We'll that clears up everything

I myself think that the box is just an item. It just doesn't work into his moveset from what I can tell, unless Sakurai is doing something really unorthodox.

I'm about 99% sure that his down special will be planting and detonating the remote mine.

I'm also about 90% sure that the downward rocket launcher blast will be his down smash. Although I suppose that that could be a tilt, it just looks more like Smash material to me.

Either the box is an item, or maybe it's actually one of his taunts?... I really don't know.

Regardless, I didn't think much of sitting. Really, seeing Zelda on the Landmaster I thought she was just crouching. If characters really can sit, that adds another to the list of "wtf do these techniques do" along with crawling.

"It’s not just Snake’s special moves that use ordnance—so do his Smash attacks. Can that be?"

After this text on the Dojo it shows the pic of the remote mine, though. I would think the same as you otherwise though. It just doesn't make any sense... how could the remote mine be charged like a normal smash attack?

And as for the box, I think it plays into his playstyle nicely, it adds stealth to his aresenal, just in a really really really wierd way.

I think the rocket launcher up will be Snake's Up-smash. Similarly, I think the rocket to Pit's legs was his down Smash. I agree that his Down Special will probably be setting/detonating the remote mine.

Interesting theory, Exorcist. A box mindgame would make Snake a really potent character. I really hope you're right about it.

"Nice catch?"
Al Calnos said that earlier.
It's also really obvious.

I love you. Lets go elope in Paris while father is still at work! Don't speak! My love for you is just too strong.

Take me on the roses, daddy! Take me!
