Hey guys. Whether you're a Snake user of you've just seen official Snake footage, you've probably figured out that he can crawl. At first, I wasn't sure what to do with this technique, but after a few battles, it hit me...

How helpful would it be to use this to avoid a stream of beams (i.e. Fox, Falco, or possibly Pit [sometimes]). Crawling to avoid fire seems good in theory, but just how is it in practice?

P.S. On a side-note, I've used his dash-A attack (which goes into the crawl) to set off mines without injury. Is this a useful tactic?

P.P.S. Aside from using dash-A, how else can you initiate the crawl?

P.P.P.S. Post other "unsung" tactics you haven't seen anyone talk about. You might be on to something new!

Um...people have been preachin' the use of prone for a while. By the way all you have to do is hold down and while still holding down, tilt the analog in the direction you're facing to crawl.

Plus it's the best crawl in the game. I mean, really, all Pikachu does is just lose a couple inches, and Sheik still sticks her butt in the air. And Snake moves faster, too.

His crawl is fun to do if nothing else as is his down B (which I screwed up the first couple of times I played him). But in all seriousness, that crawl can be used to dodge a lot of things, not just attacks from characters, but items being thrown as well, be it bombs or even bats.

I've also seen it be used to dodge some final smashes as well, like Mario's.

Yeah, the crawling is amazing. I don't understand why it doesn't work with Wolf's blaster. Urgh, pisses me off.

Wolf's blaster shots are wide. Not to mention he fires kinda low to the ground. Impossible to crawl under unless you're tiny.

crawl up->dtilt->upsmash or uair =good. you can also mix in some grabs by shield+A or do a surprise nair from crawling position.
