Plus they're all ported from Brawl of course, so be aware of several outdated ones.
The reason why there's no updated nor new ones is because of Colonel's JP voice actor passed away before Smash Ultimate's development begun.

Characters that don't have Codec Conversations for reference as seen here.

Some thoughts here. First, and I've not played any of the MGS games, but Snake does talk with other characters through Codec. Second, I don't exactly like the incompleteness of it. I would have just dropped them altogether if they couldn't have codecs for the other characters. Third, and this might be a longshot, but maybe they will add the rest when the the DLC finishes.

The codecs I was looking forward to the most were for Palutena, Cloud, and Simon.

I'm glad they're back, even if it's incomplete and inconsistent. It's funny.

I would have loved to see codecs even if it meant new voice actors, but the fact that they only have them for the Brawl cast is just a huge let down. I would rather not have them at all then to just have them for half the cast personally.

Plus, I’m triggered because there’s no Pichu codec.

It's not that specific. Brawl might simply mean a fight.
For Sonic it was like "I can't believe he's finally in Brawl after all these years" or something like that.
Anyways it's incomplete and feels awkward and feels lazy too. I'd rather they take it out entirely.

It’s a shame because I was looking forward to seeing the codecs for :ultrosalina: and :ultcloud: but I can understand their reasoning for not recording new ones.

Even incomplete like this the Codecs are still better than the Guidances.

Good that they at least brought it back.

Happy to have them back. Some of them might be a bit dated, but the "Samus took her clothes off" bit never gets old.

What a shame, I can't understand why they didn't just use other characters instead, like Master Miller or Naomi, or hell, even Slippy.
Would have been so much more complete and interesting.

Wasn't trying to change your mind, just pointing out an obvious and concerning societal issue.
I can't say it's a social issue ( here at least) but I respect your opinion. I'll shut up now for off topic.

They could have gotten new voice actors for Roy at least, I wanted one for the new characters as well.

I'm glad there in. I know people use this as a point against Ultimate, but seriously, it's extra content they're throwing in as a reference. It's not sloppy, they just weren't a priority for the dev team and getting all the voice actors back (with Campbell's dead too) would have been a hassle. Having nothing here would have been worse honestly.

In all honesty, I would have preferred them not be there since they weren't updated to fit the expanded cast. Of course, I understand that this is extra amongst the absolute giant pile of stuff that is content in the already massive game (which is why I'm not holding this against Ultimate as a whole). Yet, with all of it being rehashed with literally nothing added to the mix is more disappointing than nostalgic. Even with Campbell's Japanese VA having passed, it would have been nice to have codecs with the other cast of Metal Gear characters for the new fighters.

At least they edited out the mention of Link's clawshot to keep it accurate. Diddy Kong's still talks about, eating his popped peanuts even though that is no longer a gameplay mechanic, (although it still would work in theory).

Solution: Don't activate them. They were Easter eggs to begin with.

??

I don't think he was asking for a solution, just saying it's disappointing but won't ruin the experience of the entire game as it IS an easter egg that has zero impact overall.

It's nostalgic. If I want to relive the nostalgia of the Brawl days and the novelty of Snake, I'll visit Shadow Moses with Snake and a Brawl character, and have a little chat.

Pretty much that. For those that are happy that's they're in, good for them. More power to them. Me personally, I just wish they were updated in some way.

However, when compared to literally everything else, the lack of codecs are just a very minor nitpick that can't ruin an already amazing experience.
