What is Snake Block?
Snake Block are a block type first found in Super Mario World. They reappear a lot throughout the Mario franchise, most recently Super Mario Maker 2. In a generic Mario game, Snake Blocks start as a basic block until jumped on. Then they extend and move in a set pattern. Mario has to stay on the moving Snake Block, as it will normally be situated over a pit of lava or spikes, or even a bottomless chasm. There are also blue variants that move faster than the original.
Why Snake Block?
Snake Block is one of the most commonly reappearing elements within the Mario franchise. Surprisingly, they also have great moveset potential. They would also be the first inanimate object in smash.
Moveset
Here's what I came up with. The Snake Block also uses other block types from the series in it's moves.
Walk: Moves like a Snake Block in the Mario Games.
Jump: All Blocks gather in one block, with that block jumping. When the jump is done, they reextend.
Neutral Special: Block Produce: The snake block starts out as a single block, which can be increased by using this move, similar to olimar's pikmin. It increases it's range and hitbox size. After taking enough damage, these blocks will disappear, and must be readded using this move. Damage and range are greatly decreased when in it's basic form. Max amount of blocks is 8.
Side Special: ! Block: Brings out an ! block which will send bigger blocks out at opponents. This move can be charged to gain more range.
Up Special: Propeller Block: Propeller Block is an item first appearing in New Super Mario Bros Wii. The Snake Blocks first block will transform into a Propeller Block and fly up a decent height, before rendering the block helpless.
Down Special: Gold Block: The Snake Block will change into a gold block and spew coins. These coins will scatter and deal minor damage. These stay on the stage for a short time before despawning.
Basic Hit: Extends one block to hit a few times before retreating back to the main block
Forward Tilt: Sends forward one or two blocks to hit opponents.
Down Tilt: Lays itself flat
Up Tilt: Sends a few blocks upwards to hit.
Forward Smash: Charges up a hit with the front bunch of blocks to hit in the style of a hammer.
Down Smash: Lays itself out and spins around
Up Smash: Goes into a straight line and pushes the front blocks upwards.
Neutral Air: Spins around
Back Air: Whacks with a few blocks.
Forward Air: Same as back air.
Up Air: Turns top block into a metal block and hits opponents above.
Down Air: Same as up air just downwards.
Grab: Uses blocks to constrict opponent grabbed.
Pummel: Hits with block
Forward Throw: Throws forwards
Back Throw: Throws backwards.
Up Throw: Throws up, before hitting a ? block to hit foes
Down Throw: Throws Down, before than spinning a circle and reverting back to its default position.
Up Taunt: Summons multiple propeller blocks to spin around it
Side Taunt: Spins in a circle
Down Taunt: Spins in a circle very fast
Final Smash: Bananza of Blocks.
Snake Block charges forward, and if it hits, sends them to a random area before using numerous types of blocks to attack.
