<p>So someone recently PM'ed me this:
It all started one rainy day in Texas...
lol just kidding.
Hmm never really been asked this before and my memory is horrible but I'll give it a shot.
I started playing smash competitively in 2003, mainly finding things from gamefaqs and getting better at advanced tactics with friends. In early 2004 I went to a huge melee tournament in Austin, Texas and got destroyed. By then I was on smashboards and all that good stuff. The rest of my melee days involved lots of travelling and smashfest just like any smasher.
I never got really good at melee even though I played it for so long. My peak was taking forward to game 5(I lost) in a money match at my last melee tournament before brawl came out. I was very obsessed with tech skill in melee and often came up with useless flashy things (drifting lasers, firebouncing). I was very excited for brawl.
Fast forward to when brawl came out in japan. I went to a brawl tournament about a week after the game was released in japan. We stayed there all night playing brawl, testing things, and then had a tournament. I ended up getting 3rd with samus/GW/bowser while my friend kal(who now hates brawl lol) got 1st using marth. My friend josh(tobiasxelkythe) got a copy of the game before it came out in america and I would go over there several times a week to play with him and kal. As we started to play more I started winning more and playing samus as my main.
I bought a wii the day before brawl came out in america, and then bought brawl the next day. I started playing online at smashbrawlrankings.com a lot with Tapion and some others and was getting pretty good, still playing samus and slightly picking up GW. I went to Hobo1 and placed 5th with samus losing to Trex(snake/best player in our state at the time) and Sethlon(Falco/Ike). I placed 7th at hobo 2 and had switched from samus to GW/IC's so I was still adjusting.
I missed hobo 3, but hobo 4 is when a lot of things happened for me. I had discovered how to chaingrab on my own with IC's, and people didn't really know much about it at the time. Hobo4 was the largest tournament in texas so far(81 entrants?) and I took 1st in singles and teams with sethlon. I only used IC's 5 matches this entire tournament, and they were in the finals against Sethlons Falco. This caused Xyro to think that the IC infinites were broken and he decided to ban them.
Looking back, I'm kind of glad Xyro did that because I'm not sure if I would be where am I today if he didn't. The SBR at the time was looking for new members and decided on adding about 10. I had a huge debate with Xyro on smashboards about the chaingrabs and why they should be legal. I argued like I never had before lmao and I made really good, logical points. People in the SBR saw this, knew I was a good brawl player that also played melee(The SBR was both melee/brawl at this time) and decided last minute to add me.
I had wanted to get into the SBR the entire time I played melee, so naturally I was very excited and eager to contribute. A lot of mods were in the SBR at time because mods were automatically added back then. Smashboards had a TON of traffic around this time and not that many mods. The mods that were in the sbr got to know me and recommended me to be modded because I kept up with all the brawl traffic and was active and known. This was around the time MLG purchased smashboards from Gideon.
JV decided to mod me to every single brawl character board, and every other board brawl related. Mods nowadays get assigned to basically one or two rooms when they are added, I was assigned to over 40 rooms. I kept up with all of them though, being very dedicated to the smash scene and smashboards and about 4-6 months later they made me a Super Mod since I had been modding 40+ rooms and keeping up with all of them. They started getting character specific mods as well to cut out some of the work.
At some point during this(don't really remember when) JV decided to take a new approach with the SBR and split it into two rooms; the BBR and the MBR. He decided on having several leaders for the BBR instead of just one and chose Overswarm, AlphaZealot, Marc, and myself. OS was later removed and Shaya was recently added to the team in 2010. It was hard for me to believe that I had gone from wanting to be in the SBR for 3 years and not getting accepted to leading the BBR in under a year.
This gave me some good leadership experience as well as being a Smod and after about a year of this JV opened some staff applications and I applied to be Admin. I don't actually have a copy of that application anymore or I would show you heh. I wanted to be apart of the admin team mainly to connect them more with the smash community. Not many of the admins were actually active in the smash scene at the time and I feel this was one of the main reasons I was made Admin.
Not too much to say after that. I've still been playing brawl and going to tournaments often. I moved to missouri from texas to be with my girlfriend. I've recently improved a ton at brawl because I play more here. Had a ton of great experiences travelling for tournaments and met a lot of amazing people.
Writing this was very nostalgic haha. I'm going to post it in user blogs

I thought I might as well post it in user blogs. Here was my response:I was wondering, what might be your story from smasher to adminstrator?
