Super Smash Bros. for WiiU & 3DS director Masahiro Sakurai said: "Pic of the day. Here's the trophy gallery for the 3DS version. You can rotate the trophies by drawing circles on the bottom screen. Super Smash Bros. Brawl had tons of trophies, but rumor has it that the 3DS version alone may have more than Brawl. Looks like the Dr. Wily that we made from scratch for the 3DS version is on his knees in disbelief."

He also included a second picture saying "Here's something new--the trophy shop. If you're having a hard time getting certain trophies, why not just buy them? They sometimes go on sale, too."

Finally get to put all my extra coins to use! In Brawl, I easily got maxed out with 9999 and obtained all the trophies. Assuming that I will have to spend a lot of the gold for even more Nintendo/Capcom/Namco history is fine with me!

EDIT: Forgot to mention SEGA. Probably because I typed so FAST.

Hopefully I wasn't the only one who didn't like Brawl's minigame to use coins on trophies, so being able to just buy them like this is great.

This time, those are tears of disbelief that he's not a playable character. :( Look at me making assumptions. Who really knows?

Comments on POTD:
1. Posting early, aren't ya' Sakurai?
2. Cool! Buying trophies seems nice. I sensed you'd be able to do that.

And with some trophies being different in both versions... we could have upwards of 1000 unique trophies.

Great news for me. I love collecting these trophies and reading the descriptions. Also love how the layout is exactly like Kid Icarus Uprising.

I proposed an idea awhile back where players can take their 3DS' to tournaments and sync up their "Pass/ID" to play and that way, while they're out and about competing at tournaments they'll be rewarded with trophies, coins and possibly exclusive trophies only found through this feature. Even if you lose, you still get something out of it!

PS: I WANT THAT VIRIDI TROPHY!!!

I'll only be impress when they make "Smash Data" Trophies of the fighters like they did in Melee.

They also forgot to mention that Wily's given name is Albert.

THIS is the image for Dr WIly they decide to use?
Is this peculiar to anyone? To me it certainy seems to indicate he has at least one other trophy, if not an Assist Trophy in him.
I would not be able to handle this disrespect as to only show him in such an inferior position. This is a Japanese made game.

Also back at the smash 3DS E3 trailer, looks like you spend coins for difficulty as well and bet coins in online coins. Wait, betting coins? Smash now teaching kids to gamble? Eh, seems legit.

Couldn't you gamble in Brawl online, too? I didn't play Brawl much, but I seem to remember that. Technically, Melee's trophy lottery was gambling as well.

Well I'm that case:
Smash Bros- Teaching kids violence and gambling for 15 years.
(Just joking, obviously)

More trophies on 3DS than on Brawl? Mind = blown. That means that the 3DS is capable of handling Smash Bros. pretty well. Being able to buy trophies with Play Coins is a great idea.

This is a good pic of the day for those who collect and read the descriptions that the trophies have.
You rotate the trophy by using the touch screen, it seems. That's cool.
At least we can buy trophies if they take a lot of time to get them.

Kinds of reminds me of Kid Icarus: Uprising. I wonder why...

Woa, more trophies than Brawl, impressive...

Perhaps it's a good time to make estimations of trophy total? What about... 672...

This was a great update imo. The amount of content that is going into both games is a pretty big deal. Gotta appreciate even the little things...although having more trophies than Brawl in the 3DS version ain't no joke.

GO SAKURAI, GO!

Awesome update, I'm guessing 750 for the 3DS and about 1,000 for Wii U, with some being shared (Characters, Items, Assist Trophies, Pokemon).

And people were worried that this game wouldn't have much content due to the limitations of the 3DS.

Link hitting Zelda
Mario hitting Peach.

It also teaches kids to hit yo wives! It's a Chris Brown dating simulator.

Actually, they're bought with the in-game Smash Coins. As you see, trophies are priced at 300, so if they were to use Play Coins, you'd have to reach the maximum and spend it all on one! :p

EDIT: Although there IS an option to buy Smash Coins with Play Coins.
