The screencap was probably taken in debug mode. Similar uproars were heard when Mario was seen tripping for no apparent reason in a PotD, and that was similarly dismissed.

Isn't it possible that you can use the final destination forms of all stages during normal play with items on? I mean, you can still use items on normal final destination unless you turn them off, so I doubt this is actually For Glory mode.

I mean he's a cool assist trophy but why, when there was already two assist trophies in Brawl that did the same thing and nobody liked them, would they add another?

It's not about being fun, it's about screwing you up just for kicks. Interface screw, you know; like LOTS of obstacles tend to do in several videogames. Devs want people to suffer sometimes.
I find them fun, especially when I'm the one spectating and watch others fall like flies

Also, there aren't any other Assists like this, the one you are thinking about is Togepi. Him and Nightmare are the only ones who darken the screen.

sadly i can't remember nightmare wizard like this.. i always thought it was some witch or female-ish creature anyways. Marx would had been awesome too.

Somehow it seems like only the stage turns dark... Dedede, Metaknight and Kirby all seem to still have the lights on.

Personally, I'd prefer he just straight up quit posting PotD's. The hype train really crashed for Brawl - he didn't do the last iteration any favors by building up our expectations and then delivering something that somehow didn't match, and knowing all but like four characters by release made unlocking them feel more like chores than achievements.

Generally speaking, I've been pleased that what we're getting is usually not very informative. I'd prefer the release had plenty of surprises for me to pick apart and find on my own.

Because Dark Mind was pretty forgettable compared to Nightmare, even if the Amazing Mirror was a great game.

But yes, there would be enough to show in PotD's after the 3DS Smash launch... The Wii U has different stages, different game modes (I think?) and probably other cool stuff... but yeah, I don't know if there's enough interesting stuff to show every day till the Wii U Smash launch.
