Uplink Gaming LAN Center will be hosting its fourth Super Smash bros. tournament, this time featuring Super Smash Bros.: Brawl. Last time hosting over 32 top-notch smash players including Lord Knight, Velocity, Cactuar, M2K, and many more, we hope to have the same, if not better turnout.

Location: 206 N High St, Millville NJ (Uplink Gaming LAN Center) 856-506-0052www.uplinkgaming.com

Time/date: 4.19.08 1:00PM (free play starts at 12:00)

Entry fee: $5 at the door

PRIZES!!:
1st-3rd: cash jackpot based on number of entrants, game time, other cool swag.

Rules:
3-stock
8-minute time limit
No items
Double elimination
Best of 3 sets until the finals, which is best of 5

STAGES:
To hopefully avoid contreversy on stages which stages should be allowed, only the obviously fair stages will be used (ones that resemble neutral stages in Melee). There will be no counter-picked stages, each stage selection will be random.

Stage list:
Battlefield
Final Destination
Yoshi's Island
Lylat Cruise
Smashville

CHARACTER SELECTION:
For the first round of the set, if there is a stalemate in character selection (for example, if one player picks marth, so the other player picks DDD, so the other player changes from marth, so the other player changes, etc) then both players will tell a tournament administrator which character they wish to play without knowing the other player's character of choice. For all subsequent rounds, the winner will choose their character first.

BANNED MANEUVERS (including, but not limited to):
Any infinites (chain grabbing IS allowed)
Anything that freezes a character OR the game that was not intended by the game creators
If you think a maneuver you have discovered my be illigal, please ask a tournament administrator (in private, if you wish) if it is permittable.

Tournament machines will be on 27" CRT TVs with free play on an 84" lag-free projection screen.

**PARKING:
There are two parking lots near Uplink, and is also parking all over the street on which the venue is located. One parking lot is located directly behind Uplink, which can be accessed through the side street accross from the post office by going through the small carwash/vacuum lot. Another parking lot is behind B.J. Roasters, accross the street from uplink on the other side of the block.

If you park on the street, make sure to check the parking regulations on the street (some are limited to 3-hour parking between noon and 5pm). Some of the streets perpindicular to High St. don't have limited parking times.

We've got a bunch of locals signed up and pre-paid already, but we can still fit quite a few more. If you want to pre-pay to guarantee your seat at the tournament (if you're planning on getting there right at 1:00 or something), then stop by anytime.

Just a suggestion on character selection... It should probably be straight double blind for the first match of a set... two people could be picking characters, and the person who picks second can make a decision to counterpick the first person's character in a couple of seconds and the first player will have no idea of the fact... It could happen and cause unfairness...

I'd go if it wasn't for the fact I live in North Jersey and it's a 2 hr drive down...

To chaos about character selection: it will most likely turn out to be that way (blind pick). I thought about it a little more afterward, and realized that problem could occur.

To LK: I wasn't aware DDD had standing infinites. I'll definitely look into it and post back. Thanks for the heads up.

Just to be clear, DDD grab infinites are NOT allowed!!! Chain grabbing is legal, but infinite standing grabs are illegal. Infinite standing grabs will be counted as more than 2 throws consecutively without moving, or within the same set of grabs. It is expected that players use their best discretion when grabbing characters who can be infinitely grabbed, and if there is any discrepancy it will be up to a tournament administrator to make the final judgment. Please feel free to post with any questions concerning any rules (or anything else, for that matter). A phone number has been added to the main post to call for any additional details.

There will be no ban on jab or laser locks. The reasoning is that there are no stages with walls to allow for infinites along with the difficulty in execution.
