I'm a bit confused on the pricing.
Is there no Venue fee due to it being at an actually Park?
And how much will we pay to enter for the games because I'm seeing the +2$ and stuff.

sorry bout that.

in a nutshell, for example, with Smash Bros. Melee, it's 7$. 5$ for the game, and 2$ for the pot. however, if someone wanted to play Melee And MVC2, instead of 7$ for both games(14$), it's 9$- 7$ for both, and 1$ for each pot.

so for everything, it's 26$, in a sense, instead of 38$ for all games. and you also get 2$ off for setups, but I'll explain more on that later.

"pot" generally refers to the money staked on the tournament, that top 3 will get

are you confusing pot with venue?

where does the $5 go if only $2 goes to the pot

why such an odd number? (7)

just charge $5 venue to show up, and $5 per game

you will make more overall, and its not stupid and hard to understand

why change a system that already works

and do you really expect people to enter every event?

let alone have time for 5 different tournaments (pending on attendance)

if i went i would enter melee for 2, or 5 (??) and SF2 for 1, but not 3

nothing else appeals to me

Yesssss. Exactly.

And I'm wondering, how will the turn up be? Like might this just turn into a Smashfest with a buttload of games?

So that doesn't happen you should make Melee the main event and just have 2-3 side events instead of all of those.

are you confusing pot with venue? nope. that is the pot.

where does the $5 go if only $2 goes to the potthe 5$ is esentialy the venue and entry fee combined, since 50% goes to the park, and 50% goes to myself to fund more events in the future.

why such an odd number? (7)

just charge $5 venue to show up, and $5 per game

you will make more overall, and its not stupid and hard to understandI'm trying to make a method so that people don't pay god amounts for those who wish to play more then 1 game.

why change a system that already worksinnovation is cool, though :(

and do you really expect people to enter every event?no. when I posted that price, it was an example.

let alone have time for 5 different tournaments (pending on attendance)there will be a different game in each time setting.either 2 or 3 games per set, though I might condense it from 3 sets to 2, for time.

if i went i would enter melee for 2, or 5 (??) and SF2 for 1, but not 3you would get in for 9, since you sho up for 2 games. so you save 2$

nothing else appeals to me

It's multiple fighters, not just Smash. I'm planning on posting this on other sites outside of AiB and Smashboards, as well.

major, MAJOR changes.

I have very good and very bad news.

the badnews is that due to the legality issues and some other bull involving Los Angeles County, I am not allowed to legally have events where the prizes are cash. I'm trying to think of a way to get some money to winners, but as of right now, all the money I rake in goes to the park. However, due to this, the good news now is that the extra price for the pot is gone(since there isn't one), thus meaning lower prices. updates above.

Maybe Gift Cards or something for the prizes?

I'm not complaining about the price reduction though. =D

The only thing I'm concerned with now is how it's gonna be ran. Like which game first and how long. Also, will there be doubles for Melee?

Update time!

-I have added the rules to 3 games: Melee, SC2, and MVC2. If I missed anything, let me know. the rest of the rules coming soon.

-due to the disc acting stupid, as of right now SC3 is out. however, it has been switched with a new game on the list-Tekken Tag Tournament.

-the list for people bringing setups has been added. also, since the park rcently got robbed, one of the VCRs got shattered, so vcr/DVD setups are cool too.

also, LOL Lovage.

I'm sorry I overlooked this... but I hope you realize how sketchy this sounds. To me it sounds like you're trying to cover up taking the entire pot, but you didn't think your excuse through well enough. I noticed that you raised the entry fees on certain games. Why would you need to do that, and why do you care so much about entry fee pricing if all of your proceeds go to the park? If you're not making any money then you should be generous to the community and make the entry fee for each tournament $2.

And is this a public or private park? What is the exact restriction, how did you find out about it and who's enforcing it? You said that you can't legally have cash prizes, but that doesn't necessarily mean that your profits must to go to the park. Where is the money going?

If the players don't get any cash, then you should guarantee some **** good prizes to compensate because otherwise it won't be worth it to go to this tournament.

no bull from me, dood. LA County is completly strict on this crap. I had it all set for prized cash, but then they told me that you can't host money events on LA County Grounds. the money is all going to the park, since I didn't buy out the Gym(where it's supposed to be held), and since it's not being claimed as an independent event, it's a park event, so yeap, they gets it. Jackie Robinson Park is public. as of right now, the best prize we are gonna get are gift cards(facepalm.), most likely from Gamestop.

and what games did I raise the entry fee on? everything is the same, exept for MVC2, which I lowered.

so in summary: future events I will most likely have at another place, but this event is still OK, so I can use it for future
reference.

buut, I can lower prices, if that's what people want.

Ok that makes a little more sense. Thanks for specifying, I understand. I was almost certain that the World Warrior tournament was originally $2, but I might've been wrong about that. Good luck with your tournament, I'll try my best to make it out.

And if you can't provide cash, you might try looking for sponsorships or business deals. With Brawl, SF4 and Tekken 6, fighting game tournaments have become really popular in socal and there are always random companies looking to tag their name onto an event (big or small). Just keep an eye out, if you give out decent proposal to different companies then you might wind up with some free energy drinks or something. After my first Oxnard tourney, the owner of the Subway across the street came and asked us "wtf were you guys running and why did we get so much business that day??" and because of that we talked about having a discount deal for the entrants of my next tourney.

ok, now it's set like this: the sum of the cash for each seperate game will go to a gift card from Gamecrazy. so for example, if someone wins Melee and someone else wins MvC, they each get a gift card with the amount of cash people payed to play that game. HOWEVER, if enough cash is recieved, the winner can get...a free game. so, the more, the merrier, as they say, so try and get some friends to come, too!

and lastly, just some tidbits I forgot, which is going on the fromnt:

- as of right now, we have 4 TVs, 2 VCRs, 2 Gamecubes, a PS2 and a SNES. more is highly recommended.
- the phone # for Jackie Robinson Park is 1-661-944-2880, if you need more info.

This is gonna be my break from all the tests I've had these past few weeks, thanks. =D
You can put me down for a TV, Ps2, a copy of Soul Caliber 2, Melee, and maybe a cube.
What exactly is the VCR for, recording?

Oh wow, I just realized that this is on a Friday...

Unless it's a typo or something? If it isn't then I don't think I can go. :[

you can try to show up later, if possible.

it lasts until 5, anyway, and the melee part starts at 3.

vital changes!

- I just recently got some lens cleaner from my sister, to get rid of the crap ton of dust inside the I had in my PS2(there still is some, though), so my last 2 fighting games I have- Guilty Gear XX and Soul Calibur 3- should be on the list as well, boosting the total number of games to 8.

-I made a desision, that will make you most likely decide whether to atend or not: due to the mediocre date(Friday), most people can barely attend in time, due to jobs, school, etc. while I cannot change the date unfortunately, there is one thing I can do as penance for this: THE TOURNAMENT, AS OF RIGHT NOW, IS FREE. no, I'm not being desperate. I have no choice, in this case. the restictions from the park, the time slot I was given, and the lack of promotion up to the event led to me having no choice in the matter. take it as you will.
