Hey all,
A couple months ago Underwing posted a thread about possibly setting up a tournament as a charity event for those affected by the San Diego fires last year. Well, Underwing and I, as well as the community of Rancho Bernardo (northern San Diego) have been diligently working on making this event a success. What originally was a small, maybe San Diego only tournament is quickly becoming a pretty big event by the way we're planning. We have the venue locked and keyed away, all the details are being squared away. The only thing remaining is the possibility of sponsors donating prizes (ipods, tvs, etc) in addition to pool prize money. So, once we have that done in writing, we'll post up all the info in detail. But as of right now here is some info so you can plan accordingly.
When? October 11th, 2008. 11am to 11pm.
Where? UCSD East Price Center Ballroom
What? Brawl Singles, Brawl Doubles. (If you want to volunteer and maybe help coordinate Melee, we'd love to include it, but we're not making any guarantees.)
Ruleset: Standard Brawl rules as seen at many other Pacific West tourneys. Possibly adopting Smash Back Room rules.
Entry Fees (Still being decided)
$10 Venue Fee
$5 Singles
$10 Doubles
All money from the venue fee will go towards covering the venue and the non-profit organization.
Food and Amenities?
This event is located in the heart of UCSD so there are tons of food options available. (Burger King, Panda Express, Subway, Etc.)
We'll probably provide incentives for those that want to bring sets, and yeah... Also, have a way to help out? Want to plan side events or can you think of other ways to raise money for those affected by the San Diego fires? just PM me or contact me through allisbrawl. ( http://www.allisbrawl.com/profile.aspx?id=3650 )
P.S.: Now, we know San Diego tournaments in the past may have left us feeling cold (us San Diegans too) so, I'm going insure that this tournament is NOT being run by people without prior tournament experience. Also the venue is SECURED so there will be no last minute changes. The only things that will change are prices/prizes/fees/ what have you. Not the venue or the date. NO shady T.O.s.
