I don't see how they realistically could unless they added billboards to a stage like New Pork City or made a Coke can an item. There would be outrage everywhere.

Haha, but in all seriousness. I don't know, what Product placement could you really do for Smash Bros.? The Mario Kart thing kinda makes sense it's just racing and it's a miniature version of real-life cars. Maybe some of the items for the Mii Fighters are possible for product placement. But otherwise I'm not sure what you could really do.

As long as it's unobtrusive and optional, I'd be fine with it. Mario Kart 8 is an example of product placement handled tastefully.

Two possible ideas:

-Pepsiman as an assist trophy, with the choir screaming his name when he appears. Functions almost exactly like Isabelle by giving fighters Pepsi which heals them.

-The Nintendog assist trophy will randomly say "Yo quero Taco Bell."

I got an idea:

So on TV, we see a smash bros ad with toon link,megaman,mario and DK fighting each other. Then we see toon link grab an assist trophy and use it, but nothing happens. The fight goes on untill we hear a faint "ahhhh" growing louder and louder each second. The middle of stage breaks into pieces... and out comes
"OLD SPICE BODY WASH IS TOO POWERFUL TO LET THIS COMMERCIAL LIVE"
He then starts to beat up DK, Mario, and megaman up. Those 3 end up getting knocked out. Then he walks up to toon link and hands a bottle of old spice and says "smell like a man". He then flies of stage. The camera focuses back on toon link, who has become regular link due to the effects of old spice turning him from a boy to a man. He then taunts.
PUH pUH PUH PUH POWER!
The commercial ends up revealing that old spice guy will be an assist trophy in smash wii u.
Smash wii u pre-orders skyrocket.

Mercedes cars work well for a racing game. So what would you have as product placement in a fighting game? Actual weapons? Probably not the best idea. Probably a "Wreck it Ralph" kind of character but I doubt anyone wants that.
