Smash Balls are NOT items

Yeah, they aren't items. Which means, they might always be on. I know it sounds terrible, but again, we only get one final smash. But lwt's think about this, if Smash Balls aren't items then, WTF?

Yea.. well like I said in the other thread :

I doubt that Smash balls will be mandatory since Smash Bros is a game that's all about customization. I'm pretty sure that Sakurai has thought about nearly every possibility when it comes to making sure that everyone can have the game setup in the way that most pleases them.

However, I do think that there's a way that Smash Balls can still be in the game without being too much of a "luck" item. Basically, if the location of the smash ball is already announced a good 10-15 seconds before it is actually possible to obtain it, then everyone will be able to reach it in time, thus eliminating the "smash ball landing on top of the loser's head" factor. The person who actually gets the smash ball will be able to earn it through skill by keeping everyone else away from it long enough so that he can obtain it.

Another thing that I would like that seems more unlikely would be for there to be an alternative method for activating final smashes. Basically, each character could have a "power meter" that fills up when they take or deal damage, and when it's full you're allowed to unleash your final smash. I would really prefer this method, but it feels more like wishful thinking.

If it isn't an item we should at least be able to control the power it delivers on the opponent. I just hope you can control the power.

It looks like we'll be stuck with giant giga bowsers! Every time they post a final smash I never really look at it, because I've always been like "it's just an item" but now, I'm going to have to look at them all.

This game looks like final smashes are an important part of the characters power/balance. Time will only tell.

Which could be because the update's called "What is a Final Smash", not "Smash Orb". >_>

i was just about to say that, i think it will be possible, as smash balls are added to the game, they should be easily disabled if neccesary

It's such a new change to the basic game formula that it's under "How to play"

And as said by Dew, Sakurai's said it's an item.
