Maybe, but it looks like the Smash Ball is still one way.

It's definitely still by smash ball. WFT uses hers in the Developer Direct, it's called Wii Fit. She just jumps in the air and shoots out a bunch of rainbow sillouettes with different poses. so...with that and the picture posted above that's how it's done.

I can't remember what interview it was in, but Sakurai also seemed to confirm that the smash ball will still work the same way (hitting a few times in order to use it).
