Smash 64 section remake... part 1

I decided that as my first mod action, I'd like to get your guys's involvement on what I should do to improve the 64 boards. I'm thinking that the best way to do this is one step at a time... so... as a start, what threads do we want to have stickied?

If there is a thread you want stickied (whether it already exists or doesn't already exist), post it here. Likewise, if there's a thread you don't think should be stickied, post your opinion and reasons here. If you don't like an idea, make a peaceful post (as if it were a debate I guess)... try not to turn this into a fight... (remember, now the 64 boards has a mod...).

Reasoning why I'd like to start with stickies:

As a mod of the 64 boards, I have the right to change what is stickied. I don't, however have the right to decide what forums go where (as in, I can't give the 64 boards it's own section myself... though I'd discuss it with the other mods/admins first anyways). So... might as well start with what we can change ourselves before we start going for the big stuff.

Also, I'll be busy for the next bit (the very few times I've been able to go on the computer was at a friend's place playing smash... when he left to get stuff (food, etc.).

But yeah, come Monday, I'll start modding normally.

Anyways, start suggesting stickies :p

Consider unstickying the "Terms and Advanced Techniques" thread, and instead add a link to it at the top of the Smash Index thread.

Most good threads can simply just be added to the index thread. Too many stickies can be ugly and annoying.

I agree that a stickied video thread is worth considering.

Looks like you can help with the Smash Index after all :D
Mod it however you like, I don't mind. Just so long as the review at the bottom stays.

For the video thread...there's a video archive in the Smash Index too, perhaps we can use that to work from?

Also, find Daedatheus and get him to post the skeleton of his advanced stuff thread (I think it was him who had it in the works). Then the community can probably help work on it together.

So... so far not many suggestions... but I like the Video Thread sticky idea, and... well, the terms and advanced techniques could go in the smash index.

So... anyone agree/disagree with making a Video Thread stickied, and removing the Advanced Techniques sticky?

Just trying to get the community involvement... since... well, I can't improve the 64 boards alone :p

I'm not sure about this myself, but maybe all the tournament threads should go to the competitive subforum, since that's what it's for. I'm not sure about this because I don't really like that subforum, I prefer either no subforum at all or only subforums and no 'main' forum

Don't remove the advanced tech sticky until we have a suitable replacement. Putting it in the smash index won't work, nobody looks at it and the torrent of topics that could be answered with the index will continue to occur.

Stickied video thread GO!

I liek video thread. Also the renaming of the index. On a slightly different note, start banning people, just to show that you're serious about this ****.

sarcasm. Just so you know.

Sarcasm is usually expressed with silly, semi-coherent language or CAPS FOR EMPHASIS.

Index has been renamed and will be remodelled. Still looking for relevant links and resources (do not post ROM locations).

I'm wondering if I should include working builds of Dolphin, as it seems like the right place.

i dont get why the smash64 forums would be a good place to post builds of a gamecube/wii emulator =P

MY BEAUTIFUL REWARD STICKY! ARRGHGHGH!
Although the stickies are getting a little cluttered ~.~ haha.
It's also probably quite outdated, as I've basically stopped playing Smash64 (unless I have good reason to) and have mostly moved on to Melee.

I think that online tournys should stay on the front page, and console tournys should go in the sub forum.

I think I'll move them all to the competitive events forums... since that's what it's for. But for now, I'll leave them there, since everyone seems to want to keep online tourneys there.
Maybe its off topic but I think the nº1 "fix" the ssb64 needs is... the own section thing. Can you do something about it?

I'll see what I can do... but it will have to wait until after this weekend. I'm heading to a brawl tourney for the entire weekend, and won't have time to make a logical argument stating why we need our own section... so I'll do it when I come back.

So I guess what we need to figure out is what sections we want to have for the 64 boards. So... my thoughts is having a competitive events sub-forum, consisting of all offline and online tourneys. Depending on how many videos we plan on making, a video section may or may not be necessary (if we do, maybe have the current stickied video thread as the history of all videos type thing...?). Other than that, a character discussion section consisting of one thread per character?

I can almost guarantee that going in and asking for a new section with no sub-forums will result in a failed attempt... so lets try to get everything we would like to have in our section, then I'll ask.

So... for now, lets start discussion on what sub-forums we would like to have.

I promise you guys that once we have an entire layout planned, I'll propose it to everyone, but for now, I can almost guarantee that it won't work. Speaking from past experiences on both sides of the fence.

I'll post the skeleton of that AT thing I was working on way back. Real life got in the way and I never got close to finishing it, but the community can help me do that. It's going to be very comprehensive, almost abnormally so, so everyone might be able to learn something from it.
