Smash 4's looking to be really "down to earth" if you catch my drift ;)

Have you noticed how many character's ground moves have significantly more air coverage? Take for example Dedede's Gordo's, Link's Dash Attack and Little mac's Jolt Haymaker and various uppercuts from the latest Nintendo Direct video. It seems like Marth's tilts will have some company this time around! I'm getting a hunch that that's the direction Sakurai wishes to take the game - more powerful grounded moves to combat the air game that's been undoubtedly ruling the competitive scene so far.

This may be part of why Captain Falcon, Falco and Jigglypuff haven't been announced yet - on top of them all being less iconic or modern than most, they've had a really big influence over the competitive scene primarily because of how strong their aerial options are.
Maybe Sakurai delayed their releases because of this? Perhaps they're being reworked first. But maybe we won't see some of these characters in Smash ever again! Who knows?

Regardless, will Smash 4 be less technically complex with jumping approaches being less attractive? Yes. But does it take away from the depth? Not at all - it opens up other options for approaching! And that gets me really excited. I can't wait to get my hands on the Wii U version.

But they better announce Falcon soon.

Or, maybe it's because they're not in a presentable state yet.

And to be fair. The majority of characters are more on the ground (not to mention many of the said characters needing buffs).
So it'd make sense to focus on them. Because we've mostly seen ground oriented characters revealed.

approaching via short hopping and attacking in the air will still be king for most characters i think, its still superior to ground combat.
