So I've noticed I tend to gravitate towards video-game related things I haven't played/owned...

Pretty much every Smash Bros. character I support for DLC I haven't played their games. I haven't played Return to Dreamland yet I support Bandana Dee, haven't played Golden Sun yet support Isaac, and most importantly haven't played Fire Emblem yet support Roy. There are some exceptions of course like K Rool and Paper Mario.

I'm also pretty invested in Wii U discussions/forum(probably not here, but in other forums), despite never owning the system, though I did play NSMBU & NSLU once. And of course, I'm here despite having never played Smash 4

Nothing here for now and the Ryu/Roy leak he said to be 99% true at this point.

Nice. Not too excited for Roy, but Ryu would be badass, and he will finally break the "one character for every third party" rule. Other SEGA people would have a chance again.

Dude I've said I've been away for a while, I didn't inform myself aside from the original leak. That's exactly why I'm asking.

The cynic in me wants to say that the trailer introducing Ryu was ment to be preluded by "We have the results of the Ballot, and you WONT BELIEVE who turns out to be most voted character for reals!". Unless they have VEEEEERY long plans for DLC support for this game, I dont see how Ballot would have been relevant if they already have 4 characters decided.

Thats not what Im saying. It took them what, about 4-5 months to do Mewtwo? Now we have Lucas, Roy and Ryu, and I dont really see them supporting the game for more than 2 years. What Im implying is that Ballot might have been a bunch of smoke to get our hopes up for nothing, since they already decided themselves who gets in.

I highly doubt that. If at least the top two characters of the ballot are eligible as far as their standards go, they will be added in the game. Other than those, they already are working on some other DLC because why not. Probably they struck a deal with Capcom and that's why we're getting Ryu, and who knows maybe someone else? He wasn't going to win the ballot anyway.

Also, i really don't think it took them 5 months to make Mewtwo LOL. They were probably already working on someone else too (Lucas and the others). I expect that a new character would take one month at most to be completed. Returning characters from Brawl like Lucas even less probably.

I'm pretty sure the Ballot ain't a joke. Sakurai has a big team, he can develop multiple characters at the same time. That's what he probably did with Mewtwo and Lucas.

And I think they actually develop DLC characters like that : in pairs. Each time, they develop two new characters. First, Mewtwo and Lucas, now Roy and Ryu. I can imagine there's gonna be at least 2 characters from the ballot who'll get in the game. My bets are on King.K.Rool and Shantae or Shovel Knight.

And I'm sure Nintendo can milk Smash for a long time.
