Youtube has a lot of good videos though - Informative ones, Touhou ones, Youtube Poop, and all. :p You need to dig a little deep.

I finally understand how Fred Rechid feels. I've had leg pain before, but still.

So what's new? (Other than the Splatoon Direct and the toxic Smash community of course)

Fal, I think we need to start questioning your judgment of "good videos".

FIRST OF, like me and my dear manga artist friends says, shonen is not a genre. It's only here to tell the appeal, shonen are more for boys and shojo for girls. It's not a genre.
Second, I find your comment ironic, since Jojo is considered to be a classic. I like the fighting genre of mangas, but the ones that are intelligent, that will try to find logical ways to win a fight for example.

So saying that I don't like those type of mangas makes me chuckle a bit.
Shonen describes manga that fall into certain themes and are marketed to a certain demographic, young teens etc, themes like "challenges to the protagonist's abilities, skills, and maturity, stressing self-perfection, austere self-discipline, sacrifice in the cause of duty, and honorable service to society, community, family, and friends."
Now here you described some shonen tropes
. You can't just win by "hitting the dude really hard", you have to find a way to defeat the ennemy, with any way possible. There's no "I'm gonna fight you fair and square for justice and stuff", it's really a fight that the characters need to won no matter what. If they screw up, they pay the price. There's no "super saiyan coming from nowhere" or "last resort beat-up with flashbacks"
One could argue that both Naruto and Dragon Ball Z are classics because of the sheer amount of popularity they have
Doesn't mean they are good in your or my opinion, but they are textbook Shonen manga
I should've said most Shonen manga aren't your cup of tea
edit: or something idk, I didn't read what I wrote

If I was more of a Digimon fan when I was young, this s*** would be more hype. Looks decent, though.

From my memories though, the characters are barely recognisable from their original/younger designs. I could only tell them apart from their respective Digimon.

I remember having a Tentomon doll when I was young, which you could turn inside out to turn him into his baby form, and vice versa. It was cool.

I'm currently in the middle of writing a paper so I'll have to get back to this later, but it does look neat from what I've seen. The only thing that I will say on the matter is that I'm disappointed that it's been delayed that long and that it's supposed to be a 6 episode movie/OVA rather then a full fledged series.

In any case, a shonen isn't a genre. It says who the product is marketed to, but does not define the genre. If you really want to describe every shonen, you simply can't, because it's the wrong name you're using. Your "shonen tropes" are just "fighting manga stereotypes", it does not talk about every shonen.
For example, Nichijou is classified as a shonen. Does this include the definition you said ? No. But it's still classified as a shonen. A shonen only means the age and sex the manga is adressed to, not the genre.

So please, remember : shonen is not a genre.
Sweet baby Jesus.

that's still correct
"Do you have any good shounen manga I can read" or whatever
it's still a classification

Technically, you can call everything printed in Shonen Jump a Shonen.

For reals though, I say its a genre the same way Metroidvania is a genre, just this particular "style" of doing something, popularised by certain specific IP's.

It's a demographic, so no, it's not in any way a genre. End of story.

So how's it going?

Accurate image of me reacting to people saying that a shonen is a genre.

Personally I think of the "shonen" classification much like that of "kids' show".
It's not a genre, but it does represent a certain group of media.

And who do we say "thanks" to ?
The problem is it's still unknown why he found the TTYD gameplay redundant. Some might argue that it was to improve diversity, but honestly, spm just did that....

I personally think it's related to the communication issue. I guess I'll know this E3 if a new game is announced, but my point is I don't have reasons to blame badly Myamoto because idk why it was decided so. I do know IS wanted this to not happen however....

Like is the issue is Nintendo communication or just missbelief of Myamoto? Like, they shut down club nintendo....you could think it's the former rather than the later.

So tomorrow is the Splatoon Direct. Can't wait.

But I'm still deciding on getting the game physically or digitally.

Toy "Я" Us has an offer that preordering the game let you get an amiibo for $5. Very tempting...
