Has anyone noticed WayForward is pretty perverted when it comes to female character designs in their games? Specifically in their original IPs.

I have. They aren't working for an adult-oriented company, so I don't understand that.

What, like Shantae? I guess, but her design isn't too off the wall. Though it's more "revealing" compared to other platforming characters. I'm not all that familiar with their other older IPs.

If we're talking about designs, Mortal Kombat X is pretty toned down for it's characters. Sonya, Kitana, Tanya and Mileena are more covered up in this one than in most other MK games. Hell, Liu Kang, Jax, and Johnny Cage are actually wearing shirts now.

It's not a big deal to me, but I did notice it.

I'm just bringing it up 'cos I've never seen anyone talk about it. I'm not against the designs completely. I just can't UNSEE them in any WayForward IP. What distracts me even further is that they're drawn in a cel-shaded art style that, I imagine, draws more towards kids than adults.

I think the designs are most apparent in Pirate's Curse.

In unrelated news, people are either baking in fear (read: me) or jumping for joy since a movie based on "Five Night's at Freddy's" is in production.
My reaction: One three hour tour coming up!

In unrelated news, I am now on a tropical island after my 3 hour tour located in the middle of Nowhere. On the bright side...

There is a bright side of the island.

Sometimes it's kinda sad being the only person who legitimately likes Smash Tour.
EDIT: No really, I'm the ONLY person I've ever seen say something good about Smash Tour.
Late response, but I also really like Smash Tour as well. The A.I gets annoying, but with friends it becomes great! Guess you're not alone!

Well, Japan gets a free pass on "pervy stuff" for some reason (I'm aware WayForward is American) it and it looks like swimwear anyways! Nothing wrong with the female body (Kreygasm) and if someone doesn't like it, they can just not buy the games. Certainly nothing wrong with swimwear. There is no need or desire in Western countries for attractive women to wear more conservative swimwear or clothing and I think that's a good thing, we shouldn't be prudes and if we think some media is perverted and we don't like it, then we can vote with our wallet. I don't buy them either but that's because they haven't interested me since the first Shantae on GBC (got good reviews + I liked anything with Capcom's name on it at the time so I paid attention and bought it.)

I thought WayForward was an American studio.

The art style also seems to have some Japanese traits to it. Not like that's a bad thing.

Yes they are, I've edited my post because I just wanted to point out at the beginning that I don't know why Japan usually gets a free pass on this stuff when people complain, not saying that you would give them a free pass.

But I'm firmly on the fence that it's absolutely fine and if I didn't like it I simply wouldn't purchase it. I don't think we should complain about that kind of thing because it's getting close to summer and you'll see women dressing like that by the beach a lot and there's nothing wrong with that :p
