As far as I remember, Sakurai was appearing at the FE concert, and before the reveal of him, people thought Roy would be announced there. More likely than not, he's there to enjoy the concert, and possibly be thanked for his contributions to the franchise (It was Melee that helped make the series go overseas).

Second, you mean store credit card info on my eShop account? I honestly don't feel comfortable doing so. Sure, Nintendo accounts have never been hacked before but I kinda don't want to take my chances.

eShop doesn't force you to save your card details; it offers, but you're more than welcome to turn it down whenever it asks.

If you're willing to use a credit/debit card (I would like to reinforce that you do not have to save your details to the system), you can use an option where you pay the exact amount of a purchase rather than having left over money. Alternatively, you can add the amount needed for a purchase if you're a few dollars/cents short of whatever you're buying.
