i care a lot about audio quality. I once did some......very not scientific test (they weren't blind test) and I tried mp3 files compression and noticed I could easilly ntoice a difference at 192kbps vs flac and I can with slight effort notice at 256.
but 320 was so hard that tbh, I think I migth have some placebo, I think I wouldn;t be able to notice.
But because idc about hard drive space, I still uses flacs and wav anyway (better be overkill than just enough and let's be honest, It's not like I care much with how plenty of spaces I have

).
To me, I just want to listen was was supposed to be listened which lead me to buy 150$ bose headphones (they still work after 2 years

).
But idk that the onboard audio of my old laptop actually sucked. I assumed that some music cvontained too much high frequencies, but no, the onboard of my laptop made this:
(the ripped wav though)
so annoying to hear in the middle, it;s like someone yelling at you, it's just ugly.
but then once I got my desktop pc.....I could still fear some restriction, except it was much better, it;s more like a slight cap than someone yelling at you.
The problem is that if you follow my logic, my headphones were not a problem, they were actually better than i might have needed, but the onboard audio is my problem now, I can notice differences between both pc I owned meaning it does matter in the overall quality.
So, I heard a solution was to use an external audio and amplifier to move the stuff away from the pc to not have interference from the stuff that works in your pc like cpu.
Tbh, I am debating if I will ever notice an improvement. The good value dac I checked is like 100$ with shipping. I actually did went through some music in my stuff and I did notice some cut in the high which lately, I have been listening to more varied ost like pokemon stuff which has a lot of high.
If a dac would actually make no cut that noticeable, I do consider to be worth it, but I just think it;s hard to figure out something you can;t try......well you can return it, but you pay shipping....
