Well I don't know about you guys, but personally I think that having ads are a lot better than setting up a paywall to watch videos.
And sure, don't get me wrong, there are plenty of sites that have paid subscriptions (Twitch for example). But then again, I least I don't have to pay up in order to watch a stream.

It's not like there's a good replacement either. Expecting another video service to overtake Youtube is laughable. The only other video site I know of anyway is Dailymotion. Youtube is too popular to be taken down due to how much it's used. Doesn't mean people won't complain (And given how Youtube doesn't listen most of the time, this feature being taken down is never going to happen).

That is why I have been slowly moving away. When I first heard about this, I started moving onto things like Twitch and even here. Dailymotion sounds like a good substitute but I think Youtube has about another year until it becomes.... "Corporate."
A lot of social medias comes and go,this happens mainly because the old get boring and the new one got a good stuff on the eyes of public,youtube is a major exception,even after all the stupid updates (layout changes,google+ vinculated accounts),folks still use it because of it's broken system of making $$$,I got myself on a lot of trouble with local brazilian youtubers on the past because of this(A.K.A. saturation of the same content),I ended not getting too much of it,just some masks broken,and the retirement of a popular network on the country,this is happening again but I know this time around is worthless expressing an opinion...
I just think having a social media where we have it's main spokeman is the "goofy king of games" is wrong on so many ways...
I mean it's not even like youtube takes their issues too serious,they used happy tree friends (a violent animated show) to teach us about their copyright system...

There are many other video services besides YouTube, with Dailymotion the most famous of the group. But Dailymotion is already 10 years old (yes, as old as YouTube) and many people are still not aware of its existence so YouTube won't go anywhere.
