Luckily, they're called Duck Hunt Duo.

personally, I think the hunter isn't really part of the team because the dog barely gets out of the way of the shots. He's not gunning for the opponent, he's gunning for the dog (or the duck maybe)

I have a great idea, how about we name the dog "Bob" and the duck "Bill", in other words Bob & Bill?
Not only does it not even touch the "cursed" name that is Duck Hunt Dog/Duo, but it also has alliteration (and a pun for the duck). Which is always a good thing.
