Yeah, he ain't "totally disconfirmed". We know he isn't in the the base playable project. Just like a a lot of characters. We have yet to see if the rosters are the same from the start or anything like that. There's a lot of theories/leaks that may be right too. Also, if he wasn't playable at all, wouldn't it make sense to only have a Wii U trophy if he's nothing more than a Stage Hazard(something we still don't know yet)? I mean, people really need to wait till that "implied role" is actually shown for real before assuming disconfirmed. And then we have to presume DLC can never change that too. But after Toon Link, well, who knows. Clearly being part of a stage and playable is entirely possible. Again, that is.

Overall, at least wait for real evidence and not "low starting roster due to some clear time problems when we may have more" and "we have a non-playable role confirmed properly, not assumed" before declaring stuff that may not be accurate. Hey, I can predict things too(I knew the Original 12 were safe and that Dr. Mario would never be an alt. I could have been wrong, though. That's just my predictions, and had precedent for it. I did act a bit overzealous on the Original 12 bit, since there's no evidence to suggest Sakurai outright believes that. Just patterns. He did say something about why Dr. Mario was a clone in the first place, which is a bit different) In other words; "Healthy predictions about characters do not count as facts." If Ridley actually does get the stage hazard role, we can cry/laugh/whatever about his real disconfirmation. But till then, don't waste people's time with clear "predictions treated as facts with no real evidence to back it up." It just starts fights.

For a character as important as Ridley I'd think it'd be incredibly odd for him to not at least be a trophy on the 3DS. Of course it's possible, but it'd be kind of stupid.

I'm also glad no other character from Metroid is in instead. You know how it goes, once a character is in Smash people will expect them to be in all future installments. I think Dark Samus has outlived her potential, and the Hunters can go right back to where they came from, they were incredibly boring characters. In that case I'm thinking more of how it'd affect Metroid than having a character in Smash, I hate the idea of having an additional Metroid rep just to represent Metroid more, at that point the character is not worth including imo.

Personally I think Mother and F-Zero are represented just fine, and I'm even a fan of both. Ness does fine representing the main characters of Mother alone, Lucas didn't add much imo, and I can't really imagine an additional F-Zero character considering Captain Falcon already represents the fast pace of the game well enough on his own, and I'm not on board with Black Shadow taking Ganondorf's moveset since I love the Dorf as he is.

A lot of his SSE moves were just ripped from some Kirby bosses. I actually want something that is not "Kirby series moves" for him. I'm always against the Hunters, anyway. They're small appearing but fun guys, but have no real prominence in the series. At least the other quick clones are pretty important people. Kid Icarus has so few games, that Dark Pit really does stand out. Lucina is pretty important, yo. And Dr. Mario has his own set of games. I find him equally important to Tingle right now myself. They just have very different origins. One slightly prominent hunter doesn't do it for me. I think it only would work if it was a Bowser Jr. situation where the other costumes were alts. That was nobody gets left behind.

Sakurai may not consider him that important. Look at Mewtwo. His fate is "barely playable in one game". Plus, it's just a trophy. I think it's best to have them show up for characters who have other roles in only the version they have roles in. It's pretty logical. I think having one in both is good too, though, of course.

That is true about the whole "character added, but cut". Lucas was actually entirely different in most A moves, just not his B moves. Ness absorbed his B moves, but also got his A moves changed up to be a combination of both(some of them did, that is). Bringing back Lucas doesn't help. He'd be as bad as Lucina by this point. I think, with the current changes, he'd be a cool alt with reskinned with identical attacks. The only real difference between, say, their Back Airs is Lucas has a light element to his. So edit him to show a "light show", but don't make it more than a visual effect.

As for F-Zero, I think it's still dumb it has only one character. Metroid isn't this bad, though. There are a crapton of F-Zero characters. We don't need Falcondorf's moveset thrown onto one of 'em at all. Pico has a gun. Samurai Goroh has a sword. Etc.
