You know how in like, Chapter 18 or something you fight Pit's Body as Pit possessing Magnus? And in Chapter 24 you fight Magnus as Pit? That implies to me that the deciding factor in those fights was Pit's mental skill as a warrior rather than his (already overpowered) physical attributes.

The guy's an epic idiot savant, even more so than I already realized with how he can use pretty much any weapon under the Sun with ease.

'Boring' looking. There's probably something it can do or some connection it has with an existing Pokemon, or maybe it's just the run of the mill 'generic next generation preview pokemon' they tend to include in things. Like Bonsly in Pokemon XD. Boring Pokemon, but why not
