Paper Mario has a cool moveset option imo. I don't really support him (Waluigi is all I need ) a lot, but I do think he has a good chance as a unique fighter. He could've been competing with Shadow Mario if he wasn't a final smash.

well, here;s the facts:

in pretty much any good polls, you would find him top 10 raw (so, JUST the raw data). This includes Japan.

if you however clean the data (removing characters that popularity won;t help like a lot of third party or ridley), you end up top 5 and in some cases, top 3, this still includes japan.

My interpretation is this: he is relatively very popular, but still not the best (kkr beats him everywhere and isaac does but only in america).

So, yes, i do feel he would at least be considred with the ballot.

you have to take into consideration that they could just choose to not have someone even if top in the ballot. My guess s they will at least be on a list and then decided from that list, but if your question was the chances of papwer mario being on that list, quite likely tbh.

As for the chances itself, well popularity in his case helps him a lot. His biggest con is that Sakurai might felt it would overkill the mario franchise, but if you consider the amount of request, this can be overturned with the ballot. it's not like ridley where it;s pretty much dead anyway.....

And honestly, paper jam does help because to me, it shows his importance to nintendo.

Tbh, I would consider him the second most likely after kkr.....but with the costumes stuff, I think I would change my mind to kkr being the second most likely, it;s long to explain, but you could ask me, i made an essay on the matter

Ok, tournament mode is great. I've played two tournament games and one one of them. It's great how it's set up, and I think I'll be spending a lot of time on this mode.

The main problem with third party currently is they are harder to work with WHILE the remaining slots are limited (we are talking like 4 being the maximum I would expect). Ryu tbh made sense preballot because of how it is a memorial of what his series did to the industry. But if you check which third party was chosen, i feel that their standards are REALLY high.

And most third party are honestly affected badly because of this and this include layton. what I mean is that even if he was on top of the ballot, I still don;t feel popularity is going to help. He has other cons that popularity won;t cancel.

This is why I don;t expect much third party now. Remember that the lattest data we have only suggests 2 more slots, that;s pretty low considering the other candidates for layton.

It's OK. My biggest complaint that you can be banned from online if you leave before the tournament even begins but it said that it only happens a minute before it starts.
