I'm nearsighted as well. I always have my glasses on except for whenever they are not needed (like sleeping for example). My parents also wear glasses and my brother oddly enough has better eyesight than me or my parents so he doesn't need glasses at all.

Shortsightedness.

Farsightedness is the opposite, only being able to see things clearly from a distance. Often why people use the coloquially named "reading glasses".
