I've actually never seen anyone shame casuals outside of when they hate on competitive players or are spreading blatant misinformation about the game/characters and refuse to listen to civil explanations about why they are wrong. Actually I have ever seen any casual hate until quite recently and i tend to see far more casuals hating on competitive players than I do competitive players hating on casuals.

Spend enough time on GameFAQs (and probably the news articles comments here, as they're actually worse than GameFAQs over in that specific part of the site), and you'll see competitives attack casuals unprovoked.

The only reason I even try to be competitive is out of necessity. "Casual" tends to be shorthand for "you should break your disk and stab yourself with the shards" in this fandom.

I'd rather play in a way that makes me miserable than get laughed/yelled at. I'm just tired. Of everything.

Don't let the haters win. If you want to play casual, play casual! If nothing else, I'll support you.

I am in a mood for some Mario Maker tonight so it makes sense for me to try the level of someone that goes here. As long as the level is fun, I'm cool with it since not every Mario level needs to be super hard. Super Paper Mario is my second favorite Paper Mario title and having your level based on my favorite area is a plus.

You will get that well deserved star when I try It out tonight. Still torn on whether I should get Yoshi's Whooly World or not (Xenoblade X and Fatal Frane are at the top of the priority list for now).

its the truth to an extent. People win tournaments because they have a better understanding of the game than the people they beat. There is no other reason anyone will be successful in a competitive environment.

That is an over generalized statement because people might have more understanding of a certain aspect of the game than a pro but not know as much about the game as a whole but for the most part that statement is true. That also isn't really attacking people who know less about the game than a pro because if they know less about the game its because they haven't chosen to learn as much about the game.

Exactly, I play with items not because Im a conformist that doesn't want to grow but because I have fun playing that way; people may interpret that tweet in a wrong way and will go full tryhard mode forgetting the objetive of the game because muh competitive.

Being forced of force yourself to be competitive without enjoying the concept will always end bad.
