I'm not sure, I never did watch the original series. Though the idea of having a song every episode still does not resonate well with me at all especially if the songs are unbearable to listen to (that sort of thing is subjective however).

Has anyone here played that game?

40 minutes late, but I've played it. Beside the occasional wii remote sensor issues (mostly involving a tennis racket item and swordfighting) and the rhythm mini-games, it was a great game in my opinion.

There are plenty of things wrong with this, the animation being one of them like you mentioned. They do not look like chipmunks at all, and it just looks bad. Granted, a clip not even spanning a minute usually isn't quite enough for me to judge other aspects like the writing as a whole (though it was subpar from what I got from this), and so on. I'm still not watching this show however, I honestly do not want to waste my time with something I clearly won't enjoy.

Nickelodeon should go back to produce series with traditional animation instead of pure CGI, considering their quality keeps declining:

-Jimmy Neutron: Great series
-Pengüins of Madagascar: Good series
-Monsters Vs Aliens: Decent series
-Kung-Fu Panda: Meh series
-Planet Sheen: **** series
-ALVINNN: NICK PLEASE STAHP

Eh, they won't cancel that abomination as long as the world doesn't end for the sole reason of it making money for the network.
